I can't believe our fearless AD hasn't pulled the trigger yet on the disaster that coaches our basketball team. I can only assume that it is a done deal and he is just letting the season finish out.
Do all teams go to conference tourney or are the bottom few not included? I just don't remember the format. I'm looking forward to the announcement of the firing, though I am not looking forward to the debacle that will be the search and hire conducted by Alleva.

The SEC tourney includes all 14 teams. My guess is that JJ is let go after they go one and done in the tourney.

So maybe march 4 is not the last game. I hope we get the first game on the first day of the tourney so the misery can end as soon as possible.

A lot of AD's like to use the build up to the final four as a job fair (see JA hiring Trent) so hopefully it's before then.

Alleva could fire JJ before the SEC tourney and let the players coach themselves. They would probably do a better job.

this will linger on for a while because alleva has not started any sort of search like a normal person would have done.

Another stupid thread.

Why don't y'all just start one every hour instead of every day. It's getting old people.

What if the team goes on a run and wins the SEC tourney, earning a place in the NCAA tourney?

What is getting old is the fact that the situation hasn't changed. Each day with each additional loss makes the story that much more relevant. You might be better off moving into another topic if you don't like this one. But if that is the case, you might be better off not logging into TD for a while. You are not the only one fed up with the situation, but asking us to not talk about it makes you look kinda silly.

Since all 14 are in the tourney, believe me, LSU will play the first day!

With each additional huge double digit loss. We're not just getting beat, we're getting massacred

It is apparent that Alleva is waiting until the season is finished before he fires Coach Jones

The season is lost and has been and Alleva must think there is really no advantage in firing Coach Jones now.

There may be something in the works we are not privy of such as firing of Alleva?

Most fans would say this is a good thing

One could argue firing the of two head coaches of a schools two main sports in the same year could give the institution a look of being incompetent

Dale Brown comes in and takes him 7 years to win 20 Games. It will probably take a new coach longer now so sometime mid 2020's for the first good Basketball Team.

You're wrong as usual. Teams today are not full of 4 year players like thet used to be. A coach could come in and win fairly quickly.

Just FWIW, go watch the video clip of Calipari going off last night on the Admins that fired Mark Gotfreid mid season... Nothing that earthshaking but pertinent to the conversation.

I'm not saying any of this is incorrect, but I wouldn't trust Alleva to do anything proactive. The only time he at least appeared to be proactive blew up in his face (the 2015 attempted ousting of Miles). With basketball, his lack of foresight has fricked things up.

Waiting too long to make a move from Johnson put him in a position where he was essentially forced to hire Jones.

It was clear after last season Jones wasn't the long term answer. So instead of making a move, saving this season (to some extent), and allowing the new coach a decent foundation to work with, Simple Joe decided to retain Jones and let the program completely collapse before doing anything.

But hey! Maybe he was just waiting a year to help LSU mitigate the financial hit of buying out Jones who had 3 years left on his contract? But then again, it was Savvy Joe who gave Jones a multi-year extension after only his second season. I guess he wanted to keep the wolves at bay from poaching Jones from LSU. I mean, no other power conf. program even considered Jones a potential candidate in his 11 years at N. Tex., but...you know, Joe just wanted to be sure LSU kept him.
