Does Texas A&M automatically become LSU's "traditional" rival upon joining the SEC? Since we really don't have one, they seem like a good candidate.

LSU & A&M have played about 50 times and used to play annually. It felt like the traditional game since the series is pretty competitive, unlike the Tulane series.

Despite the efforts of Arky & Ole Miss to position themselves as our traditional rivals, I'm going with A&M. The state of Louisiana vs. the state of Texas. Seems like a pretty fair matchup.

I tend to agree - something CBS tried with only limited success ("The Boot") will happen without much fuss...assuming aTm holds up their end and makes the first few a game.

Without looking anything up (disclaimer), wouldn't Arky be better positioned to be ATM's natural rival?

It depends on who #14 is going to be. If it's Mizzou, then you have to go with Arky-Mizzou.

TAMU was a huge rival for many years and it will be again.
In large part because of the number of Louisiana people in TX and viceversa.

It may not be a "critical" rival for te NC quest for a while, but it will grow.

LSU has one rival in the West, traditional or not. It's Alabama. End of discussion.

While I agree Bama is "a" rival, we will never be their top rival until Auburn gets the death penalty. SO, it's hard to imagine this rivalry at "the next level", so to speak. Our biggest rival was Tulane, then Ole Miss. Those teams don't hold up their end of the bargain and make the games competitive anymore.

It could be aTm. While the Texas/aTm rivalry will have history and tradition behind it for some time, the conference realignment could easily shift that, pretty easily (Texas still has Oklahoma).

Arkansas is a bigger rival to Texas A&M than LSU. Have played more times and they used to be in a conference together battling it out every year. Arkansas holds the winning record 40-24-3. They've played 67 times, we've played them 50 times.

Why can't we just hate everyone equally? Well almost every one. Screw bama, Arkansas, auburn, aTm, Florida, ole miss, Georgia, south Carolina, miss state and Tennessee. I don't like any of those bastards.

Tulane is truly hate, so is Ole Miss, Alabama, Florida, Miss. State, Auburn and the b*tches from Southern California. Arkansas is a friendly rivalry because we feel sorry for them, until they kick our arse on the last play!!! or McFadden and Jones run for 5 miles after Jones sits out the Tennessee game the week before just so he will be healthy against LSU. A&M doesn't provide anything to us but a resource for jokes. They have no female cheerleaders and hang out with farm animals - go figure for yourself.
