Any ESPN insiders want to share the write-up on LSU's best team ever posted earlier today?

So many to choose from. 2013 was pretty damn good too. Sucked in Omaha but that team was awesome

1/9/12 fricked our GOAT plans up.

It's a fun argument between those two, no doubt. Both were stacked teams. I like 1997 pitching better.

The 2012 team lost to Stony Brook, big dawg. Not even in the GOAT conversation.

If they could field a bunt they would have been. USC figured that out pretty quickly.

1991. Go look at the MLB Starting Pitchers and their fielding percentage. Or 1993. Both were damn good.

It was crazy how 1991 wrecked shite in Omaha. Not to mention a staff with Ogea, Byrd and Sirotka to boot. Three solid MLB starters. They get my vote.

Byrd was on that team too.
They were outstanding fielding as well.

Our 2000 team batting average was .340. Even those gorilla ball teams before the bat change in 1999 were batting a shade over .300 as a team. .340 as a team is flat out ridiculous

I don't think the gorilla ball bats were the same in the early 90's. that changed 1994 or so from what I recall.

they didn't really change that much from the mid 80s until 1999. The big change happened in 1999 when they went from -5 to -3 and slimmed down the barrel diameter to 2.5 inches. There hadn't been a big change since 1986 when the NCAA imposed a weight limit for bats. Then the obvious next big change was the composite ban following the 2009 season and then the major change of BBCOR in 2011

here's an interesting article on the bat changes and their effects LINK

Any bat in the hands of Lyle Mouton was a Gorilla Ball bat. #NoRacist

Out of all the LSU teams in any sport, the 1998 baseball team's loss hit me the hardest. That team could flat out hit. Last of the gorilla ball teams. Uggghhhhh frickin USC. Should've three-peated.

That hurt more than any except football 1/9/2012. I still think the 1997 team was the best.

1987 was pretty awesome team that lost in Omaha on Paul Carey's grand slam off freshman Ben McDonald coming out of the pen.

Greg Patterson, Stan Loewer and Mark Guthrie was the SEC rotation and Barry Manuel as closer with Ben and Dan Kite as midweek starter.

Lineup had Joey Belle till he was suspended, Jack Voight, Craig Faulkner, Mike Papajohn!
