No, you're a fool. Bama had 268 yards on the ground to a #7 ranked teams' 63. Passing Bama had 230 to their 91.

Virginia tech at #7 is laughable, as laughable as the rest of the ACC. You're going to tell me that Tyrod Taylor is going to burn anyone up in passing yards this year? Did VT even attempt a pass whenever they were near the goaline? Bama is a good team, but don't bring up that game because what i saw from bama impressed me just as much as what i saw from LSU. You can put all the yards you want on the stat sheet but the scoreboard doesn't lie and both teams needed a 4th quarter touchdown to win. Virginia Tech is ALWAYS over-rated.

ETA: Weren't they ranked in the top ten when we waxed them like 45 to 7 a couple years back? Doesn't mean shyt cuz they're VT and they will always be over-rated.

Just the opposite, sometimes the score board doesn't tell the whole story.

Well like it or not its the ONLY stat that matters. Would you disagree?

I can't stand these threads basically giving up on the season after just one game.

Let them give up on the Tigers...Then we wont have to deal with there stupidity for the rest of the year!

Not after a closer than expected win

Not everybody expected it to be a blowout. I picked it almost exact in the prediction thread. Didn't have any confidence in the defense before the game and don't after. Too early to panic and start hyping out though. We'll know a little more after Vandy and State, with definitive answers after Georgia and Florida......

Defensively, the things that bothered me was: 1. Poor tackeling overall 2. Lack of lane discipline by the d line 3. defensive ends crashing to the inside time and time again giving up the outside. Offensively, 1. we never established anything to work our offense off of 2. we allowed WU to keep 8 men in the box and didn't stretch the field vertically to help open the running game 3. the O Line didn't play well in my opinion.
That being said, I'm less troubled by the O than the D. WU had all summer to scout our O and prepare a defense. I believe the D will perform better against Vandy and as the O line and Jefferson play more the offense will jell. I Think we can still have a great season and I'm excited about it. Give WU credit, they played hard all game long and the fans kept the teams adrenalin up. Good win for the Tigers on a long road trip for an opening game
