With LSU being a 17 point favorite this week, I'm still torn with whether or not that will happen. What does the rant think?

Also, if anyone possibly knows this, does anyone know the last time LSU covered the spread more than half the time for a season? It seems like we whoop arse yet still can't cover. All that matters at the end is that W but I was just curious about this other stuff.

TL;DR anyone know the last time LSU covered the spread more than half of the games they played in a season?

I'd imagine 2011 was a good covering team. I remember vegas pushing lines further and further each week and LSU still covering the majority of the time.

I thought this was going to be about spread offenses.

Haha probably just because I don't gamble on football games. I'm already too emotionally invested, no need to be financially as well.

Vegas couldn't make the number high enough.

I made a good bit of money off of that 03 team. Granted I was a college kid, so winning $50/game was huge back then.

To my knowledge, the only time they've covered this year was Auburn.

les miles plays way too conservatively to bet on spreads, unless you want to bet against him.

and who wants to do that?

Only function of the spread is to demonstrate the experts' lack of football knowledge. If a team doesn't beat the spread, it's the bettors' error, not the team's failure.

Its really 50-50, u either cover or u dont- each game. So if u flip a coin 13 times how many are heads? Vegas is rarely a good investment. Youve heard it it before, they didnt build those hotels losing money to people that figured out their local college rarely or usually covers their line.
BTW LSU covered the 6.5 last Saturday. Fake FG and all.

Sports books don't pay for the casino. Sports books make up about 2% of the total hold for an average casino in Nevada. Sports book win was about $227mil while slots were $2.9billion and black jack around $1billion. They built the hotels on people playing bad slots and not knowing basic blackjack strategy while play 6/5 games of BJ.

IIRC Miles and Saban are the two coaches who cover the spread the least. Miles just doesn't ever run up a big lead, so unless they're picked by 3 the I usually pick the other team.

Depends on when and where you shopped. For example, the game against South Carolina.

LSU is 3-3 against the spread this year and was 8-5 against the spread last year.

LSU is 1-5 covering the spread this season.. Covered I believe -7.5 vs Auburn.. LSU has historically been a bad team to follow when picking against the spread.
