Were they having problems with it growing? It looked beautiful last weekend.

Maybe they're just trying to thicken it up and make sure it looks great for that prime time slot.

Give the roots a boost before the weather gets cold.

Probably just a precaution. They want that bad boy top shape.

Cool nights probably slowed down the root growth which is what they are trying to improve. The soil is pretty coarse in order to improve internal drainage but that also means it's not as good as holding the grass by the roots and creating divots.

I know some hydroponic greenhouse gurus in Colorado that could make that field look like a modern art masterpiece in 36 hours.

Not sure where you live, but since the apocalyptic rain in early August, it hasn't rained at all. Very very dry in BR.

Doesn't help that the entire field has been ripped up and entirely replaced every Spring after the fricking Redneck Music Festival in TS.

A strong root system can't be established when that's done; takes multiple years of growth for that to happen.

Now that the NeckFest has been moved, the turf should start to become more resistant to wear.

I know in watching Auburn and South Carolina games last week, their Turf looked amazing for mid-late season. Both looked like the first game of the season that hadn't been played on yet.

Maybe LSU should go after one of their Head Turf Managers since Eric Fasbender left LSU last season and there is currently nobody on the staff that has been a Head Turf Manager with a College or Professional football team.

I'm sure the new south end zone deck limits sunlight and slows down grass growth.
