I had thought the defense would be ranked higher. I attribute that to how good they've looked in most games.

Bama is only 7th, so 13th seems pretty solid. We are only a handful of ypg out of the top 10. With Ole Miss, Bama, and A&M to come, those numbers may take a bit of a hit. If not, we truly are a top 10 defense. Those 3 teams are averaging over 500 yards per game.

All true.

I didn't check the stats, but you're right. Sometimes it is only a matter of a few yards separating the 5-15.

Bama has played a much tougher schedule so far. As much as it pains me to admit that.
Our Def. os certainly good. They will have their first big test this weekend.

Those past stats mean nothing. It's what we do from here on out that will matter....

So does offensive stats matter or not?

Last years we finished 3rd in the sec in offensive points per game and 4th in the sec in offensive yards per game yet i was told those stats were meaningless.

The title highlights the increase in production of the offense this year. LSU finished 39th in the nation with 437 ypg last year. 402 ypg in the SEC. Fournette was tearing it up a year ago. Only ranked 6th in the SEC in ypg in SEC play; 5th in the west.

Why would you use just sec play? All sec schedules are not the same.
Bama had 417 ypg in sec play.
Lsu had 402 ypg in sec play.

Both teams play 2 teams that the other team didnt.

Bama played
1. Tenn 37th ranked defense (ypg given up)
2.lsu 23rd ranked defense

Lsu played
1. Bama 1st in defense
2.florida 7th in defense

So using just sec play is flawed.

Bama failed to gain 400 yarss of offense far more times than lsu did.

I also mentioned what you said.....39th in the nation at 437 ypg, which was just behind Ole Miss and Arkansas for the 3rd in the SEC. We did a solid job last year on offense.

This year, we are nearly 100 ypg away from being top 3 in the SEC. We are far behind the production of most of the SEC west teams, but we are making strides.

All stats are flawed. Too many variables. We do get the pleasure of playing Alabama and Florida every year, which means 2 top 10 defenses every year. Good point.

Are blatantly obvious comments like this really needed?
