Is this just Guilbeau being Guilbeau, or has anyone else heard CPM name Broussard as a possible Sunday starter?

"You go with the best available guy for game three whether that's been a traditional starting pitcher or not," Mainieri said, signaling the possible use of junior right-handed closer Joe Broussard (1-0, 0.49 ERA, 8 saves). Mainieri used pitcher Jared Bradford in the 2007 and '08 seasons as both a closer and a starter on weekends.

There is certainly a chance, even if GG wrote it.

I'm curious what the exact question was posed to CPM. If he was asked, "Will Broussard get a shot to start game 3?", then we could have another Matty Ott experiment.

More than likely, the question was, "Is there anyone in the bullpen you could see starting this season?"

It would kill Joe's career if they tried that shite right now. They have Matty Ott in Gainsville as a damn litmus. Parker Bugg needs to be the experiment before that.

If the series is tied 1-1, I could possibly see Mainieri doing this. We need the wins and this series is very important.

I'm not a fan of using Broussard as a starter yet, FWIW. Not sure if Bugg is the answer this season either.

Gotta trust CPM and CAD know their pitching staff better than we do.

Would make his decision easier if Poche was able to get alot of innings in.

I would give Alden Cartwright the start Sunday. Bouman really has no out pitch. Cartwright at least has a plus curveball that people will chase.

Cartwright is scheduled to start tonight I think. Maybe it's an audition of sorts. It he goes 3-4 innings he could easily come back Saturday.

Yeah because Ryan Verdugo, Jared Bradford and Louis Coleman's careers are also over...

BTW nothing Mainieiri said really hints at Broussard starting. Thats a giant leap that GG made and its dumb to compare him to Bradford since Bradford wasnt coming off an injury.

I dont think he could be much worse. Although his one SEC start was also rough.

He didn't expressly say Broussard but he fits the description.

Mainieri would have thrown Broussard Sunday if the game was closer. He said as much Saturday after the win against Arky.
