I'm pretty sure Pete Maravich holds the freshman scoring records as well.

Freshman didn't play varsity when he was there so it wouldn't count, but Chris Jackson has the NCAA freshman scoring record.

And Pete's 69 points in a single game.

30 free throws made in a single game. He was 30 for 31.

I'll start with Pistol Pete's 44.3 average points per game over 3 years.
I have the hardest time wrapping my head around this. That had to be a kick watching this guy in person.

ETA: That record will always hold - even at the national level.

My mom worked at LSU for years and employees got 2 passes to all sporting events except FB.My brother and I didn't miss many of Pete's games. His freshman year we would leave after Pete played and not watch the varsity game.

I was there the night he broke the scoring record and he missed several shots before he made the record breaker and everytime the crowd would stand up and when he missed everyone groaned when he finally made it they stopped the game and celebrated.Good times.

His passing and ball handling were the best I've ever seen and he would take shots from all kinds of contorted positions. And teams would double and triple team him and he would still shake and bake and score.

Tie football games in one season..3...

Wrestling and Boxing wins in a season (thanks to title IX)

One streak we are about to break...36 years NOT winning the sec in gymnastics with the same coach (ends this year I think), but 36 is a lot

25 years of same coach in women's golf NOT winning an SEC, same coach all 25 years

SEC men's bbal titles (trny)- none in 37 straight years- is NOT likely to be broken this year

Gymnastics
School Last SEC Title Number of SEC Titles
Georgia 2008 16
Florida 2016 10
Alabama 2015 9
LSU 1981 1
Arkansas never 0
Auburn never 0
Kentucky never 0
Missouri never 0

Pete left LSU in 70 and I didn't start at LSU until 72, but my Uncle had season tickets through his business. They never used them, so I went to a lot of the games when Pete was a freshman. The show he put on before the games, just dribbling, passing, spinning the ball, were worth the price of admission. Never saw the men's team play one game until I started college. But Pistol was everything you could imagine as a basketball player, showman, whatever word you wanted to use to describe him. Incredible memories.

Wait. So that means we had a home run EVERY game in 1997? That's amazing. I know we have the season record that year but to have that kind of consistency is amazing.

Also - Carlos Carson's 5 consecutive touchdown catches (or was it 6?).

I was there; it was 5 touchdowns in only 5 catches. Rice-1977.

Harry Rabenhorst has a world record 115 yard punt...in 1919 punts were measured from point kicked from till it stopped rolling....it went 85 yards in the air.

That was a magical time. Those wide barrel bats sounded like a big Bertha driver and the ball popped of them like tennis balls.
