Is LSU ever planning to add a competitive shooting team?

As a student you can start these clubs by yourself. You just need a faculty member that will "coach" you. That's how we started the bass team.

I'm not a student. My stepsister is a competitive shooter looking for a school and I'm trying to figure out how to save her from having to go to Ole Miss.

Lsu definitely would be competitive if they made their shots.

LSU doesn't have a team, and I doubt they would add on real quick. My friend started one at a smaller D2 school and it takes a lot of time and money.

I'm being completely serious with this question:

Is it a bass fishing team or a bass guitar team?

Fishing. I wish I knew how to play the guitar. I can play the fiddle but my grandfather never told me that chicks weren't going to be into bluegrass.

If I were you I would tell her- you have a chance to start something that could be special down the road, you'll be competeing on the same level and maybe LSU will have a shooting range named after you 20 years from now.

There are probably a bunch of guys at LSU waiting for some women shooters to show up so they can have a team.

No, because it's unfair for people from Louisiana to be on a college shooting team. Can't put the pros up against the amateurs. Sportsman's Paradise, remember?

If she does skeet / trap shooting, Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO has been really good for many years; national championship good.

We used to shoot at Gateway Gun Club and several of the team members practiced there.

Gooddeal brother! I stopped following the guys and keeping up with CSA after a job promotion and a kid. Glad the young guns are keeping it going though. I hope my son wants to be apart of the club in 17 years

Shooting team

Percentages have gone down over the last 2 seasons, but this Tigers' team will commit to defense first under Wade.

So I'm sure you're familiar with the costs associated with Collegiate Rifle teams/competition ? My friends daughter shoots for Ole Miss and its nothing cheap. The Anschutz and FWB small bore rifles run $5000 decked out with sights. The same in PCP air rifles run $4000. The Eley match ammo costs $20 per box and $2000 for a case. Shooting jacket, pants, gloves, boots, etc.... costs around $600. Most clubs have 14 members and they compete in 22 matches year round (September thru March). Not hard to figure out the initial cost and start up fees based on the numbers above.

If your step sister is that good, she may want to consider West Virginia, TCU, or Nebraska as those teams dominate with the best shooters in the Country.

Or if some LSU booster(s) could donate $250,000 - $500,000 towards the club, I'm guessing Aleva and the powers at LSU would consider making Women's Rifle a possibility. Pretty sure the Ole Miss rifle team has been around for over 20 yrs as they recently hired the HC from West Virginia.

best of luck to your SS
