dude come on. Les always said how great Jefferson was looking in camp and practice.

Would you agree that its more common for a coach to comment on his SR qb than it is a first year starting LB?

I didn't say anything about Welter. That's a fact. You did say

That is a fact. You didn't watch Lee and Jefferson every day. That is also a fact. You put your foot in your mouth. Get over it.

And now this is where you respond by hurling insults to deflect from your stupid comment.

Really?

I'll Ive said in this thread is let the kid play before you say he doesn't belong.
LM himself said Welter having strong camp.
LSU fans saw enough PT from both JL and JJ to form an opinon which should play more in 2011.

I honestly believe I could say the sky is blue on a cloudless day and some of you would say "no its not" just bc I said it.

Some of you guys try way too hard to disagree with me.

I absolutley made it.
However anyone that has just a tad bid of insight would understand how this applies to a guy with 10 career snaps vs a player with 3 years worth of snaps.

Obv you cant differentiate.
Dont know what to tell you bud... I really dont.

So you were completely on board with Jefferson taking over for Lee in 2011?
I'm with TigerLee on this.
I'd have to defer to the Coaches' opinions after Lee's 11-5-11 int exhibition.

You guys like to act like PT is up to Miles, but he gets info from arse Coaches, like Welter's pos coach.
Head coaches don't have time to watch every player's every rep and evaluate.

There's 85 players. He didn't mention 85, he mention 5-6. One being welter.

He was asked about Welter specifically. He also mentioned Lamar Louis in the statement "pushing for the position" IIRC. He didn't offer up Welter as "someone who had a good day" to open the press conference.

Hopefully Welter does well. I don't think Chavis is going to let him twist in the wind if he struggles.

This hasnt been mentioned yet so I'll throw it out. NO NEW INJURIES!!!!!

2/3 of the scrimmages through fall camp and we are almost at 100%. By this time the last two years we were decimated with either injury or off the field stuff.

my favorite, miles was minimally involved with the offense during the scrimmage. The plays were coming from the press box. Complete opposite of what they've done in scrimmages years past.

Ehh miles never called plays. the last two years stud was set up on the field during practice when he was calling plays. mainly cus he also was coaching the o line. so he really couldnt be in the press box during practice.

if this was the nfl, cam would be on the field. But you dont get immediate pictures if the defense pre snap in college.

It's scary to think of some of you guys as decision makers...

It seems pretty clear that welter is being given a fresh opportunity, given his injury and academic past. He's only had a few live game/scrimmage opportunities in his career, so it makes sense to give him a shot if Chavis thinks he's potentially capable.

Louis had at least one opportunity thus far, stepping in against UF, and that didn't work out so well. I would assume that if neither one of these guys show well against TCU, Chavis will move LB to the middle.

Don't think Welter is a scrub, but there's a reason there are so many questions about MLB. What we have seen from Welter has been disappointing. It isn't good when you're in position but can't make the play.

OTOH Louis was out of position a lot, but he made plays when he was in position. Louis was a true freshman last year, so I wasn't that surprised by the mistakes. If Louis puts it together upstairs then there's no way he isn't seeing the field most of the time.

I'm way more pumped to see Deion Jones this year, TBO. That kid showed some real flashes last year.

Personally I think Barrow needs to be in the middle...just from what little we've seen so far. But I think it's foolish to pretend to know what the coaches are thinking. They are famous for trying to pump up players with compliments...trying to get the best effort from them by injecting confidence into them before the season starts. But before the TCU game is over, astute fans will have a good idea of what to expect from the LBs.

Give the guy a chance at least into the TCU game. If the coaching staff likes him above all the other quality LB's now on the team then there must be a reason why.

When I think of the LSU defense I think of a relentless swarm of physicality.

When I think of welter I think of ice skating. Backwards.
