I know most fans don't care (front runners?) but LSU really needs a basketball victory tonight. Even if you want Coach Jones to go, continuing defeats will make it difficult to recruit in the future.

I also think if we can just get one victory, that the players will be imbued with a new confidence and will have a decent run at the end of the season.

Note: By "run" I mean a run of good play, not a "run" of winning every game.

Coach Jones is a good man and I don't know why anyone would wish misery upon him.

Down votes will probably outnumber up votes in this thread, but I'm with you.

You probably lost most of the posters here when you used the word "imbued"....

I am a good man too. Why should I have to deal with the misery?

Coach Jones must realize that this is big boy basketball--results matter

Wanting him gone doesn't mean people want him to be miserable. Even so, those are just thoughts and wishes. His actions are actively making LSU fans miserable, why should he get to make all of us miserable without anyone even being allowed to "wish misery upon him?"

I think most fans have given up on the basketball team. Continuing losses are going to do nothing but hurt recruiting.

We need to try to salvage something from this season.

It would accomplish nothing. This isn't football where the team had a lot of high level talent (though not as high a level as talent as some fans thought). The basketball team issues are primarily player oriented. So, firing the coach changes nothing, and likely makes things worse.

In order to bolster recruiting, you need to have a coach that a top rated basketball player would want to play for. Nobody wants to play for Johnny Jones. You come out of the program no better than when you went in.

Honest question, who is LSU currently recruiting? When is the next signing period?

I think any possible recruit is waiting to see who the next head coach is going to be. As long as JJ is still around, recruits aren't listening or watching.

L-O-L

JJ deserves everything coming to him putting this hot garbage out on the court every night. If they retain him, basketball enthusiasm will be at an all time low and if our administration is dumb enough to keep him, I hope nobody goes to the games next year

As an LSU supporter, I don't care if it's a College Chess match I want LSU to win. However, my expectations are so low for the Basketball program at this point in time, serious apathy has set in. Who LSU hires as the next Basketball coach is what's most important. After listening to Hannigrif and Ott's show with Scott Rabalais as guest this morning, their projection of what LSU is willing to pay at most is 1.5 million. That has me more concerned than anything than what's happening the rest of the season.

And Alleva will have another chance to frick up another hire.

It's really hard to be an LSU fan right now. It's like they're trying to turn people away.

having Jones continue as coach will hurt recruiting.

For the long-term betterment of the program, he must go. And to ensure that, I want us to lose the rest of our games to neuter Dale and Collis so Alleva has more ammunition to fire the guy.

It is difficult, especially with other sports seem to be doing well (though I'm worried about baseball due to the injuries).

Rugby - climbing up the charts. Softball and gymnastics likewise doing really well.
