We are ranked right where we deserve.
After we beat Georgia, we will be ranked around 5 or 6.
Isn't it great to be able to control your own destiny.

Polls shouldn't even come out till at least week four of the season.

I would rather be ranked first and have bama schedule then have to beat 4 teams in the top ten. Then have to play a top 5 team in the SEC championship game then have to play the number 2 team in the nation. Thats 6 teams in the top 10 and 4 in the top 5.

Then we would be the unranked LSU tigers vs the unranked TCU frogs.

This is absolutely retarded.

Also, LSU did nothing to deserve a higher rank.
If any other team in the country went 10-3 and lost that many players, would you put them in the top 10?

I wonder where LSU would be ranked if anyone of the above ranked teams swapped schedules with LSU.

Most would be ranked at or below where LSU is ranked at 12th, and LSU would be ranked at or above where the other respective teams are ranked with the exception of Alabama.

I had always thought this was a good idea. It used to kill me that Florida St and Notre Dame could live off of their BS reputation and start every season ranked in the top ten. Then they would lose a few games with their crappy schedule and still finish somehow in the top 10-15. Repeat again the next year.

im sticking with my prediction ....14-0 bitches Me too.

you're predicting 14-0 with our schedule and a ton of unproven players and you're calling other people dumb. we can't do a thing about the polls...we can't do a thing about other peoples schedules...we can only take of our business one game at a time. if we start off 1-0 then we can talk about 2-0.

get better.

Rankings are retarded how about win your division, win your conference and win all the games you play in your side of the playoff bracket , then win the title game and THEN your ranked #1

ESPN went through an entire SEC preview with a single mention of LSU. I love where we are at right now.

don't think I'd agree with that. With what Stanford has coming back, they deserve to be preseason top 5.

With what they have coming back or based on who they play? Stanford is good but they are a product of a bad league with the exception of Oregon and they will not win when it counts.

Don't get me wrong, I like Stanford. But to believe that they would beat all but 4 teams in the country is not realistic. In my humble opinion they would beat the Butteyes who have proven over the last decade they are merely pretenders nationally and very good against a horrendous Big 10.

Listen, I'm an LSU fan and have been for close to twenty years now. But, there are other leagues in the nation that are good. The Pac 12 is arguably, the second best league at this point. So, no..............Stanford is not the product of a "bad league". They beat Oregon with the same philosophy that we beat them a couple of years ago. Stanford's defense is built like an SEC defense. Do they have the overall speed that an LSU or Alabama defense has...? No. But they do wreak havoc with their front seven and they have speed in the defensive secondary. Take off the purple and gold glasses and give the Cardinal their due.

I know one thing..........if we were playing them instead of TCU in the Cowboys Classic, I'd be a lot more nervous about this first game. TCU will be a blowout...................Stanford would be closer than a lot of LSU folks expected.

"LSU is the 6th best team in the SEC.....yeah"

This is what gets me. I know these rankings don't matter at all but that is just a humbling number. However, Les will use this as motivation to get the boys angry so I'm fine with it.

I'm ok with the rankings. With it's A-game LSU would beat any team ranked ahead of us. Without LSU's A-game most teams ahead of us could beat us.

I'm surprised Virginia Tech isn't a top 15 team to inflate the ratings for Bama v VT. Also to make Bama's schedule appear to be harder.

I believe this team will lose one game, everyone is worried about our defense but those young men will rise to the occasion
