Butch, you need to get busy and send us a player from Md. Every NC team we've had has had at least one player from Md. on it. We don't have any now. GET CRACKING!

My memory of Davis' catch was that he had both arms out looking for the ball. The ball boun ced off one of his hands into the air and he caught it as he was falling into the flag at the goalline.

A truly miraculous catch.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. We moved from Louisiana when I was five but Dad, my bro and I always(and I mean always)listened to the games on WWL. That nite it was freezing cold in north jersey and me and a lady friend were sharing some Beam and a bud in my chevelle SS just sittin there in the driveway just jammin on da Tigers. As Jones got the snap the signal faded and we just sat there wondering and hoping and didn't have a clue until that signal regained strength and all we could hear was the crowd in Tiger Stadium going nutso. I knew..she knew..we celebrated..just like being home. I had always and will always be a Tiger...but that nite in jersey that fine lady from the north country was a Tiger too. Bert and Brad...thank you.

The Jackson, MS newspaper, the next day, in reference to the 1 second left on the clock, had as their sports headline, "Ole Miss 16, LSU 10+7".

The next year, we played them in Jackson (Ole Miss and Miss. St. both played their home games in Jackson back then). Ole Miss had their legendary coach, Johnny Vaught back, and they were primed for the upset. The game was an afternoon game on ABC. Brad Davis ran all over them, and the final score was something like us winning 51-17.

The Sunday morning Baton Rouge Advocate ran the headline, "Ole Miss 17, LSU 10+7+7+7+7+7....".

Uhh - I believe it was actually "You are now entering Louisiana. Please set your clock back four seconds." - right? placed so people leaving Mississippi into La. could see it.

"08, '58, '03, '07 and next year". - 1908? Football wasn't even the same game then. A TD wasn't even 6 points.

It may have been, "You are now leaving Louisiana....." I actually never saw the signs but read about that.

As to '08 (1908). This has always been a bane to True Old Time Tiger fans. We were undefeated and by some polls number one.
We do not count it, but it sure had a nice ring. My Dad would always smile when he said it.

"The audio clip was great to hear, but it makes me realize how bad Hawthorne is "

I used to believe that Ferguson was boring. How many times have I wished for that velvet voice since Hawthorne took over.
