Is there reason to be concerned with the current situation of our offensive line? The injury to Williford has to be hurting. Turner is the only lineman starting at the same position as last year. Position changes by Collins and Alexander, are they adjusting? What about depth and chemistry, is it there?

The OL is considered a strength of the team now.

You clearly read Lazarre's doom and gloom in the tigerbait chat.

To be fair to the OP, apparently the OL didn't look good in the scrimmage last Sat.

You'll be bashed for this thread. But they need to prove themselves IMO. I agree its a concern, or at least a "wait and see".

I really like the starting 5 and feel they are actually in there more natural positions this year as compared the all the shifting of the line last year due to injuries. My concern is depth. Outside of Pocic, are a lot of unknowns if we are hit with injuries.

Its a concern, but I think we survive till they hit their stride.

In my opinion, the moves by Collins and Alexander are to their more natural positions. The improvements by Hawkins were enough to consider it a toss up with Alexander as the starter. OL will be better in quality, experience and most importantly depth.

I thought Collins played tackle last year, no? I was thinking it was just his freshman year when he was at guard. Either way, tackle is supposed to be his natural position.

Hawkins sounds like he has upside, but he's still a greenhorn. He will get his lunch handed to him at times; it's what comes with being a freshman lineman.

I like Turner and Alexander at guards. Our pass protection late in the season was a liability with Alexander being in that RT spot.

Lots of potential. Need to gel quickly.

Williford was not going to start this year. We've got a great starting 5 with everyone except Alexander playing their natural positions. Also, we have Pocic who could step in at center. I don't know if any of our veteran backups are capable of stepping in. That's where Williford's loss hurts. If he was available, he subs at guard. Also, if a tackle goes down we would have shifted Vadal and subbed Williford. I'm not sure what the plan is now at guard.

Sucks for Williford's personal health, but giving Miles and stud a best buddy to play in front of better OL would have killed the line like it always has. We are finally running out of T Bobs.

Would not be worried. They all have played significantly, with exception of Hawkins, and have moved over to play their natural positions. Collins is a left tackle, but played guard because he could get on the field, learn a new position, and help the team. Doesn't mean he forgot how to play left tackle because he slid over to his natural position.

It isn't my place to be concerned with any part of the team. That's what the coaches get paid to do. My job is to sit back in front of the TV and pop a beer.

Hawkins is the biggest concern IMO, the next would be center, and exchanges. Hawkins said he was struggling in run blocking, but was doing well, pass blocking. I think we run to the left in a pinch, but I think we'll see more passing with these guys, as a unit.

yes we are doomed... It's not like Faulk going down so I'd say we are much better off going in than last year.

Why will I be bashed for this thread? I read it and it clearly shows that some people are concerned about the current situation of the OL. I was just asking for further explanation as to what I read by people who may have more knowledge about it than I do. Don't get your fricking panties all wadded up.

I expect the starting five to start climbing up draft boards pretty quickly. Potential injuries and depth are the real concern.
