Tom Herman has proved that he is a great recruiter, and specifically exceptional at recruiting the Houston area and other parts of Texas. If anyone watched the OU/UH game Saturday, then you saw that Ed Oliver dominated the line of scrimmage as a true freshman. Herman got Oliver(#5 OVR PLAYER 2016 Class) to stay in Houston. This is the main reason why LSU needs to make a serious run at Tom Herman. He would be able to dominate I-10 from Houston to New Orleans in recruiting. Couple that with his explosive spread offense and coaching philosophy of "following the process", and you have one scary program in Baton Rouge again.

if Charlie Strong has a good enough season to avoid getting canned and UT sabotages Houston's Big 12 bid, the odds get a lot better.

If I recall correctly, I think Herman hired Oliver's high school coach and recruited a few of their players.

Something that has never lacked under Miles.

There is absolutely zero proof that Kiffin can be a serviceable head coach.

Please explain ( not being argumentative , just trying to understand better ) what you mean by serviceable

Tennessee he takes a team from 5-6 to 7-5

USC he won there. 10-2 and was 3-2 when fired. While on probation. I believe he was 10-2 with 51 scholarship players.

He has been with the best ( PETE carrol and Saban )

Herman is 5-0 against ranked opponents (2 against top 10) at AAC Houston.
Kiffin is 3-10 against ranked opponents (1 against top 10) at blue bloods Tennessee and USC

I support the idea of getting Herman. At this point I would like to have any coach other than Miles. I would like to get one of those young coaches who's simply up to par with the new Era of CFB not a dinosaur(Les).

Certainly on its surface that looks good.

For starters I want someone that can and has beat Saban, Herman has and I believe he would here also. I don't think Kiffin could beat his old ball coach saban. Maybe he could but the things Herman has done everywhere he's gone is just icing for me. It's def Herman for me! GT

Recruiting isn't the issue at hand, we somebody a coach that's willing to pull his d!(k out and piss on the opponents defense using the outstanding talent that this program posses period...

If you don't know why Herman was able to get Ed Oliver, and why it wasn't a good move for LSU to try to match it, then don't discuss recruiting. That had much less to do with Herman and Les, and much more to do with his high school coach and friends.

The UT year is irrelevant. It was one year with existing players. It isn't a knock on him necessarily, but it pales compared to Herman thus far.

His stent at USC was a disaster. The sanctions are overplayed IMO. It meant they missed on some extra 3-star guys here and there, but they were getting elite talent every year. He had one decent year when they entered the season with no expectations, but it was sandwiched between two incredibly underwhelming seasons, one where they were preseason #1 and finished 7-6.

Kiffin's resume is a perfect example of the Peter principle. Just because he is an elite OC doesn't mean he can be a head coach.

Huh? Kiffin has been a HC and a disaster multiple times.

And it would be nice to have a straight forward coach.. not some guy who has strange behavior.

Herman beats teams higher ranked than him. Herman has his team play solid football and can play with anyone.. he will adjust his entire offense mid-season if needed.

There is no comparison with a guy like Kiffin who has shown to be a failure at HC and a guy who is showing he can beat the best of the best with lesser talent as HC..

What Herman did at OSU was incredibly impressive as well. Even with a 3rd string QB and hardly any reps.. he took it to Alabama's defense..
