LSU may actually get their way on scheduling

I still think they won't break those rivalries up but it looks like there is hope.

“We tell them that all of the formats — every one of them — has a series of advantages and disadvantages,” he said. “There’s no one that lines up with all advantages and there’s no one that lines up with all disadvantages. So people are going to have to make a decision knowing that whatever decision they make is going to have some advantages and some disadvantages.”
The SEC’s sacred rivalries of Auburn-Georgia and Alabama-Tennessee sound like they’re in jeopardy.
I still think they won't break those rivalries up but it looks like there is hope.

This isn't about LSU getting there way....it's about fairness
I understand Bama/UT (and others) wanting to keep those rival games.....but I'd like to play everyone equally as possible

Sacred my arse. Thats not even the biggest rival for any of those schools...Maybe Tenn.

Alabama has played auburn about 20 fewer times than bama has played Tennessee. And auburn has played bama fewer times than they have played florida. I say no rivalries have to be played yearly.

I still say if they want those rivalries bad enough then schedule them each year, but they don't count toward the SEC rankings unless you were supposed to have them on the rotating schedule that year.
They won't do it due to strength of schedules, but that only means the rivalry must not be that important.

Another option that looks like it is on the table is to allow those schools that want cross-division rivalries to continue playing each other and those that don't to have rotating schedules.

It's easy for Slive to say this in a press conference yrs away , but when it comes time to vote behind closed doors, bama will never let this happen. Again, it's a matter of 4 teams making the rest of the conference bend to their "traditions" at the expense of the rest of the league.

LSU doesn't need to "get it's way". The conference needs to move to 9 games & drop the permanent cross divisional opponent crap. It's rather ridiculous that this is even heavily debated in Bham.

There is NO CHANCE these get busted up. Instead, the league will hard headedly continue to keep these four fricking teams in different divisions forcing this bastardized schedule.
The thing that pisses me off the most about it is that it's unnecessary. If the rivalries are SOOOOOO important, there are ways to accommodate them.
- Place all teams that have significant rivalries (let's face it, it's just these four really) in the same division. Bingo...they play every year.
- Allow them to schedule each other as non conference games that do not count towards their conference record in those years where they don't naturally match up. Bingo...they play every year.
Or...they can go the route that Nebraska/Oklahoma went when they joined the Big 12 and put the needs and desires of the conference ahead of their own interests and forgo their rivalry so that the SEC can have an equitable schedule that does not favor some while penalizing others.

So Would you like to take vandy and mizzou into the west and send auburn and Bama to the east? Because that sounds fricking terrible to me....especially if it's just to perpetuate these rivalries.....if that happened, the east may as well just break off into it's own conference because playing anyone but us and A&M would be an off week for east teams in that scenario.

I didn't see anything suggesting the SEC HQ is moving from the Land of Gump so I don't have any faith in scheduling fairness. We'll continue to do what's in the best interest of the state of Alabama.

It's an easy solution if anybody really wants to fix it. Stream the opposite division opponenets equally. If Bama/UT or AU/UGA or whoever wants to keep their annual game, let them play it as an out of conference matchup. With no effect on the SEC standings.
