Speaking on a teleconference in advance of the NFL Scouting Combine, which begins Tuesday, Kiper said Jones needs to add some weight but made a big move with a strong senior season. He called Jones a "Derrick Brooks type," referring to the former Tampa Bay All Pro.

Kiper also said LSU offensive tackle Vadal Alexander helped himself by returning for his senior season.

Let's hope our rising juniors take note.

I'm really starting to hate chavis. How did this guy not see extensive PT at linebacker until he was gone?

Much like beckwith.. They weren't trusted.. Chavis for quite sometime has chosen understanding of the scheme over athletic prowess..

Not sticking up for Chavis in the slightest, but he did have Lamin Barrow, Kevin Minter, and Kwon Alexander ahead of him on the depth chart.

D.J. Welter, though.

Hopefully recruits take notice. Kwon last year and Debo this year with beckwith also being a monster

That's great to hear. He outshined Beckwith last year which a lot of people (myself included) didn't see coming.

Jones was LSU's best defensive player last season. He got completely stiffed on post-season honors because he had no name recognition coming into the season. May not be as good as Alexander was this past season, but could be a solid pro

Proud of that guy. He had a hell of a year and was laying some vicious hits.

depends on how he runs. At his size needs to clock under 4.7

Minter left in 12. Just makes you wonder as a supposed lb guru. Puts Beckwith at de, I know they were short. Debo was a late edition, and kwon kind of fell in our lap with bama going with other players.

His transition from an after thought to the best player on defense was remarkable and a good reason why we should sign a few lightly recruited projectable/potential guys every year. Best of luck to him.

What'd he weigh at the combine? IIRC, he was <220 at the senior bowl.
