It's not going to show in the rankings, but if Lyle commits that's a Top 3 class easy, he was a high 4-star from last year...it would literally put us right behind Arizona and UK.

Yep. Lyle won't boost rankings because his year off but he is a very good combo guard that would be perfect for us.

Lyle is a combo guard who was 4 star on 2 sites and 5 star on the other 2 sites last year. He signed with Oregon but didn't qualify. He is taking a year of prep school and LSU is very much in the mix for him. He came and had his official visit the same weekend as Simmons and Blakeney. But because he was a 2014 recruit he won't add a ton of points to LSU's class based off the recruiting sites.

How so? Every big recruit LSU has gotten over the last 2 years has had some kind of legitimate connection that brought them to LSU

Martin - Baton Rouge native

Mickey - brother played football at LSU (James Wright); Jones knew him from his days at N. Texas (Mickey is from Dallas)

Simmons - Asst. coach is his Godfather

Blakeney - UK was looking in other directions and he had played with and is friends with Simmons

Jones and co. have done a good job, but they have also been blessed with some good luck in the recruiting game

Do they count/consider international recruits (i.e., McVeigh)?

They may give them like a low 3 star rating because they don't do the research internationally. Looking at some of McVeigh's film and game stats show he could possibly be a diamond in the rough for sure.

Here's McVeigh versus Jonah Bolden (who was a high 4 star/ low 5 star last year after moving to US).

Thanks for the link, but ESPN is awful in any sports' recruiting.

McVeigh is supposed to announce this week and he's a solid prospect as well. Would like to add a big man to this class somehow, though.

McVeigh is a 6'7"-6'8" guy who actually could play 4 pretty easily if you ask me. Has some good post moves and has enough size for the most part.

Thought I read he was really skinny for his height? Has he put on some weight?

If you can watch that video I put a few posts up, do it... He is skinny, but still looks comfortable in the post area. He is going up against a 6'9" guy who was a 5 star in the 2014 class and looks very much like a player against him. That video is from 2013, but still shows alot of promise.

McVeigh could play the 3 for us, he's a big guard basically who can play around the rim. We will have a lot of 2's if he comes so he would probably rarely play there (at least next season).

He could easily play some 4 although that's not really his game.
