With the jump to 8 in this weeks poll, it makes 13 consecutive years that LSU has made an appearance in the top 10. Does anyone know who might have a longer streak?

you take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have the facts of life.

Of course. But it also suggests that LSU has consistently remained a team that high expectations are placed on.

Yeah....
4-8 Arkansas in 2012 was #8 at one point in that season.

You're right. I'd rather not appear in the top 10 rankings.

So idiots like Lester earl who continuously called les miles "Larry Coker" years ago were wrong?
No way. I don't believe it.
Les miles has destroyed the program!

Crap, some of our fans are so fricking dumb.
There is a big fricking difference between a team continually in the top 10 and one rarely in the top 10.

Probably FSU or Miami in late 80's early 90's. Nebraska 70's/80's, Penn St, Michigan, Bama, probably all have similar if not longer streaks.

I'm going to check but Bobby Bowden had Seminoles in the top 5 for around 15 years straight.

I found it. It was 14 years in the top 4.
Greatest Runs from 9 to 20 Years
Some say the greatest streak in college football history is Oklahoma's 47 game winning streak in the mid-1950s, but in my opinion, Florida State's 14 year streak of top 4 finishes in the AP poll 1987-2000 is much more remarkable. They dropped to #5 in the fixed poll for 1994, but still, 14 straight years of finishing in the top 5 is something no other team has come remotely close to accomplishing. So I'm calling this the greatest run in college football history. Here's how they finished over those 14 years:
1987: #2
1988: #3
1989: #3
1990: #4
1991: #3
1992: #2
1993: #1
1994: #5
1995: #4
1996: #2/3
1997: #3
1998: #3
1999: #1
2000: #3
Florida State was so strong over this time period that they also have the most total rating points for 15 straight years, 16, and up to 20 straight years (1984-2003), even though they were not nearly so powerful before and after their 14-year streak.

In 2002 week 10 we were ranked number 10 in both the ap and coaches poll. We finished the season ranked #8 in 2001.

lsu has won at least 8 games every season since '99. that's rarefied air. very few teams in the history of cfb have had a 15 year run like that.
