Phillip Barbaree Jr. out of Shreveport beat the #1 ranked junior amateur in the world 4&2 today and will play in the semifinals later today against Won Jun Lee. Incredibly impressive performance and the combo of him and Sam Burns is going to be brutal for the rest of us for years to come.

I remember my one and only Junior Am...

Was 5up thru 9 holes in the first round and lost 1DN to a kid who went to GT...

Never been more depressed after a round

Throw in Nathan Jeansonne, too. LSU golf is stacked.

I know this kid personally and he is the real deal. Unbelievable work ethic and with him, Burns, Ricard (another Shreveport boy), and Jeansonne coming there.....the sky is the limit.

Do you think the David Toms practice facility is contributing to the number of Shreveport guys that are ranked in the top of the junionr/amateur rankings, or is it just a weird coincidence?

Chuck Weinsted is a fricking boss. Signed the #1 class and already has Barbaree verbally committed now.

LSU has a very real shot at back-to-back national titles, as difficult as that is in golf

Have you been there? It is GREAT place to learn and improve. I dare say it is world class. Any serious golfer within 3-4 hours drive time should spend a few days there.

Sorry that was meant for whoever asked the David Toms question...I dont post much.

Suspended at A/S on 18. They're coming back tomorrow to finish and then the winner of that match will play in the 36 hole finale later Saturday.

you bet your sweet arse it is. I live about 5 minutes from the facility and I can tell you it is first-class all the way and the level of instruction given there would rival any golf school in the nation.

Barbaree's 2 down thru 18. The players will go grab lunch right now and then head back out to the course soon. The back 9 should be on FS1.

Barbaree just made birdie to cut it to 4 down and is in good shape on the 30th hole to potentially cut it to 3. Needs a really strong finish here.

I hope the kid wins, but my goodness, he gives new meaning to the word deliberate.

He spent 5 minutes on the 17th tee before he hit the shot.

I was gonna say those were two really good shots under the pressure they're facing.
