I'm planning on going to the Georgia game this year and have never been to Athens. I heard it was a cool town and great game day atmosphere. I am having no luck getting a room of any kind. What is my best bet on accomodations for the trip. Im flying into Atlanta on the Thursday before.

most people stay in Buckhead. When game gets closer, people on the rant will be talking where they are staying. It is a little less than an hours drive from there to Athens

stay at the Intercontinental or Hyatt or Ritz in Buckhead, party there and then drive up, cheap rooms in Buckhead are b/c of economy, the other day Ritz was offering 109 night for a Sat

Its too late to find anything in Athens. I booked my rooms in October of last year for the game. I'd stay in Buckhead or on the Northern Perimiter, there's a nice Westin there that is an hour to Athens without gameday traffic.

I wonder if tickets will be as available as they were at Auburn last year. I can see UGA having 2 or even 3 losses by the time we arrive.

If that's the case, we'll still have that amount after you leave!

I would stay in downtown Atlanta or Buckhead, I live here and IMO Buckhead has good restaurants but I would rather stay downtown, Buckhead is overrated and a cheap cab ride for dinner. You're only a little more than an hour from Athens in Downtown Atlanta...

That's on a regular day. Be prepared for a much longer drive up on game day unless you leave real early. You could find rooms other than Buckhead or downtown but if you're looking for nightlife those are probalby you're two best options.

Others that party more could probably give specific recommendations as I'm a few years past that stage.

I'll be leaving from Stone Mountain. I recommend you leave at the arse crack of dawn! There's nothing like waking up to a few road sodas anyway!

That would make for an interesting tailgating experience. Whether it ending up bad or good could change at the drop of a hat!

Lame.

And smile away, the last couple games you got us good but too bad it didn't amount to much for you, 1 SEC title but little other than that.

We'll proceed to whoop the Ginger out of Joe Cox on 10/3/09...
