LSU was fined $5,000 by the Southeastern Conference after an estimated 20,000 fans rushed the field following the Tigers' 10-7 upset of then-No.3 Ole Miss on Saturday.

The conference announced the fine in a news release Monday afternoon, citing a violation of the league's access to competition area policy.

The policy reads "access to competition areas shall be limited to participating student-athletes, coaches, officials, support personnel and properly-credentialed individuals at all times. For the safety of participants and spectators alike, at no time before, during or after a contest shall spectators be permitted to enter the competition area. It is the responsibility of each member institution to implement procedures to ensure compliance with this policy."

The $5,000 fine is the typical fine for a school's first offense of the policy.

Add the fine to the fees of the students who attended.

Because students were the only ones on the field after the game.

How about all the other people from the lower bowl that went on the field?

Or are you going to ignore my post in this thread too?

That's $0.25 per person on the field.

Would those fans have stormed the field if the students hadn't jumped in first?

I'll pay this one, guys, but I get to be first on the field for the Bama celebration. Deal?

Does that somehow absolve them of their part in it?

Each person who went on the field should give LSU 30 cents towards the fine. That will pay for the fine with $1,000 left over to tell the SEC office to go to hell in some creative fashion.

I thought it would be a lot more than that. I wonder how much to repair the turf damage?

Or just do 60 cents with a note that says "Here, in case we want seconds."
