LSU fans deserve an explanation!

The LSU brass needs to tell the fans exactly what happened? They deserve that much? Now that the coach has issued a statement; that the team will decline any post season offers, it’s now time for some sort of explanation. To say that the team is going to work on next season is not acceptable.

NIT wanted Ben Simmons but he declined to play to prevent any type of injury in a meaningless game.
No Simmons. No invite. Not hard to read between the lines.

Why the hell would we want to play in meaningless, second tier tournament? Some of you people are just hopeless!!!!

So Simmons is more then the team. The dude has no loyalty. I for one think he Wil be a flop not because of his physical talent but because of his attitude and heart

Meh, the season was a suck fest and there was really not much to be gained by continuing...

My guess is the team expressed their preference about not wanting to go on, and Jones may/may not be expected to be fired or step down.
I figure both Simmons and Quarterman in particular, are aware of the way the fans feel, and both probably want to get the heck out of here

You don’t perform like they did without some explanation? Certain people are getting paid huge amounts of money to deliver a product the fans can be proud of. It’s one thing to lose, another, when the national media is making a mockery of the basketball program?

Good riddence
I've criticized Simmons, mostly arguing with the guys who keep proclaiming him as some brilliant wunderkind who can do no wrong. He isn't that, he's got a ton of holes and raw areas to his game, and I haven't seen the competitive fire that would make me think he will be an elite winner in the NBA.
But, hell, like some posters have said, he's a 19 yr old kid. He's about to be richer than all of us, but still a kid.
Quarterman is a couple years older. He's dumped a lot of effort into this program the past 3 years.
We've already seen that ESPN cherry-picks news from this board, and I'm pretty sure the players are aware of it too.
If I was a player, TRYING to do something, and everything was collapsing, and I was aware that a lot of fans would like to say "frick you, bum, get the hell out", then, yeah; I'd definitely be in favor of skipping the NIT, and exiting ASAP. For Simmons, I'm sure he wants nothing more than to forget this whole year. Quarterman, I'm guessing his career memories are shot too.

I agree, fans deserve to know who made the decision and the reasoning behind it. The explanation JJ gave is not sufficient.

what a great college player. frick him. LSU doesn't need pieces of shite like him. i'd rather be in last place.
newflash: LSU is a University. come to play and come to go to college.
and frick all you people who embrace this kind of "system".
we need to take college basketball back. one and done sucks. colleges are being taken advantage of. give the scholarships to kids that want to go to school; not as a one year warm up to the pros.

One downside to turning down an NIT invite. Future NIT selection could turn us down and let's face it we are not a program above the NIT. Since the final four appearance how many times have we made the big dance? We really are too weak of a basketball program in general to announce we are above the NIT.

I think Jones might need the time to pack his stuff up.

I read on another site[It might not be true] that Simmons has already left B.R. for Australia and would NOT play in the NIT. Plans to talk to the Pros Monday. He might have Pro-day this week AND might have already talked to an agent. This is a rumor.

No. Left for Florida or LA to go train for the draft, that's at least believable.
