Would that idea even be worth entertaining?

Bowl game aside, he did well with that UNC defense this year. And the level of athlete he would have to work with here vs. there would be a huge upgrade. He would be on my short list.

That game was an anomaly. Check out UNC's defensive numbers last year compared to this year.

Plus, the talent on UNC's defense isn't exactly apples to apples when compared to LSU.

Baylor o line never gets credit. They have some serious mashers. Unc didn't have the fire power but they were usually lined up soundly which when you have athletes like LSU that's 99% of being successful

I know everyone can pull stats that would look favorable to their view, but what I like that he has been around a lot of championship teams.

2004 Auburn went undefeated was the DC
2005 Texas won the BCS was the DC
2010 Auburn won the BCS was the HC

UNC was giving up 39 ppg last season but only allowed 24.5 ppg this season. That's a pretty significant improvement in points allowed and puts the Tar Heels right on par with LSU.

They also went from allowing 257 ypg passing to only 189 ypg.

Plus, opponents' red zone scoring percentage decreased from 89% to 79% and red zone touchdown percentage decreased from 72% to 62%.

Those are pretty significant improvements for a first-year defensive coordinator.

At this time, can you likely get anyone with better credentials?

Seems like a better situation than we would have thought, to either promote Ed O to DC, or hire Chizik.

Chizik is another pretty solid coordinator who was not meant to be a head coach.
