I felt more confident without Chavis in the booth on the last few drives, that is for damn sure.

Steele is better in the first half while we mount a lead, but not as good in the second half, however makes the stop on the final drive.

Chavis is better making second half adjustments, but only to blow it late on the final drive.

I am just happy we are shutting down the run and a&m is not

Defensive stats

defense

total d - 15th ncaa (3rd in the SEC)
rushing d - 8th ncaa (2nd in the SEC)
passing d - 45th ncaa
sacks - 24th ncaa (17 sacks)
1st down d - 17th ncaa (4th in the SEC)

turnover margin - 20th ncaa (1st in the SEC)

Man, isn't that the truth. Not sure what it was, but I never felt like the outcome of this game was in doubt or true jeopardy. Not at 7/0 or 28/28. Chief's absence or presence had no effect on my confident feeling at 7/0, and everything to do with it at 28/28. Absent a Hail Mary and a coach that won't run up the score, we beat this team by 14 after spotting them 14. And no, naysayers and Gator fans, I'm NOT taking our special team touchdown off the board because the two of yours scored via special teams/its result are off. Fumbles and returns where a man's not touched isn't the same depth of "luck/great fortune" than a fake FG. As Florida's last series went 1st and from 10, 2nd and 12 from 8, 3 and 14 from the 6, or however it went/that's pretty close, I thought to myself I do not miss Chavis. Win or lose this game, I THINK we got this. Wouldn't have that if Chief was here. Even the topic of this thread - last minute touchdowns - and the OP's first post - bye bye Chief gives me painful, painful memories of a couple of losses we shouldn't have taken.

I was pleased that Florida was unable to score at the end. However, I was pretty ticked that LSU couldn't run the clock out and had to punt the ball away.

Yeah, botched snap killed any chance of that.

LSU is # 15 Nationally in total defense.

Texas A&M is # 59.

When I saw us blitzing on that second to last drive by Florida, I was so happy.

195 per game, 228 per SEC game. A little better from last year. They're battling Auburn and USC for worst in the league, but both have their numbers skewed from already playing LSU. A&M could very well have the worst rush D by the end of the season.

We may very well have controlled the ball until the end if it weren't for that fumbled snap.

And the game wouldn't have been close if the special teams could have not given up a punt return.

See, I can do it too.
