LSU defense against power run

Any thoughts on the LSU defense and how it will hold up against power run games? Remarkably, we've gone the entire season without facing one, in scheme or in reality. Will this defense hold up against teams (Alabama, Arkansas) that will try to pound it a bit?

They practice against one every day so, I'm expecting they would do a good job.

I honestly think that's probably where we'll match up best, particularly with Bower back. I like Key but I don't know how he would hold up against that type of an attack for 4 quarters.

Our DTs are good and we're starting to see quality depth at that position. Starting LBs are active and guys like Adams and Jefferson are good in run support as well.

No they don't. Practice doesn't work the way you think it does.

I watched the replay of the UF game yesterday. It was a somewhat condensed version so it didn't have every play. But my God. Frank Herron is an animal. It's just a matter of time before he is working in the majority of the reps. He was consistently the quickest off the ball and pushing double teams 4-5 yards into the backfield. It was a treat to watch.

I think they will do fine.

Beckwith in the middle is a big help there. Jones has also turned into a player and can lay a hit. We also have physical safeties. Teams have needed to pass more, but just means our guys wont be as worn down. They havent been pounded yet like LSU does to every other defense.

We are strong up the middle. Davon Godchaux, Kendell Beckwith, Jamal Adams which is what you need to stop the run. If anything our weakness is more on being thin on the ends of the line but that's getting better.

Not gonna replace either starter. He has been looking good though

Don't forget Louis is an experienced backer if we go to a traditional 4-3 look instead of a nickel package.

yeah Bower being back is big. Key (at this early point in his career) doesn't hold up at the point as well as he does.

given that Quay Bain was a DE before he got kicked off, I've wondered if they wouldn't let Herron play some DE in a "big" front. esp if we got into trouble against a more power running team. guess it hasn't been needed though.
