I did a little research and have put together the average AP final ranking for each top program along with national championships, top 5 finishes, top 10 finishes and conference championships during the Les Miles Era at LSU (2005-2012). Below the teams are ranked by average AP finish, and I have also listed the other categories by each team.

To make this quicker to type here is what the following acronyms mean:
AAFR - Average AP Final Ranking
BCSNC - BCS National Championships
T5 - Top 5 Finishes
T10 - Top 10 Finishes
CC - Conference Championships

1. Ohio St - AAFR = 6.38, 0 BCSNC, 6 T5, 7 T10, 5 CC
2. LSU - AAFR = 8.63, 1 BCSNC, 3 T5, 5 T10, 2 CC
3. Alabama - AAFR = 8.88,3 BCSNC,3 T5,5 T10,2 CC
4. Florida - AAFR = 10.38,2 BCSNC,3 T5,4 T10,2 CC
4. Oregon - AAFR = 10.38,0 BCSNC,3 T5,5 T10,3 CC
6. USC - AAFR = 10.5,0 BCSNC,4 T5,5 T10,4 CC
7. Texas - AAFR = 11.63,1 BCSNC,3 T5,4 T10,2 CC
8. Boise St. - AAFR = 12.38,0 BCSNC,2 T5,4 T10,6 CC
9. Oklahoma - AAFR = 12.63,0 BCSNC,1 T5,3 T10,4 CC
10. TCU - AAFR = 13.25,0 BCSNC,1 T5,3 T10,4 CC
11. Georgia - AAFR = 14.5,0 BCSNC,2 T5,3 T10,1 CC
12. Virginia Tech - AAFR = 15,0 BCSNC,0 T5,3 T10,3 CC
13. Wisconsin - AAFR = 15.38,0 BCSNC,0 T5,3 T10,3 CC
14. West Virginia - AAFR = 16.25,0 BCSNC,1 T5,3 T10,3 CC
15. Auburn - AAFR = 16.88,1 BCSNC,1 T5,2 T10,1 CC

I know on here at least everyone is pretty divided about their feeling of Les and the current state of the program, so I just wanted to give some perspective about how the program has fared since he became head coach compared to the other top programs in the country.

That is cool. But we all know what matters is how many time you win the last bowl game of the year.

the REAL system gave us a ND matchup against Alabama in a game every rational person knew would be a double digit win for Bama.

Not too sure the AP isnt more accurate as to ability of the football teams.

This is all unnecessary. 80% win%...That's all anyone needs to know. If you can't be happy with that then f*ck off; you'll never be happy.

yeah and he might have won a NC last year and the SEC and a NC this year if he had some creativity and not made it so tough on his offense with his predictability. also UF and AU were down last year. and we skimmed by bama the first time. They destroyed us in the rematch.

Wow that's really great. Just think what it would be if we didn't have a terrible offense and didnt lose multiple games/championship opportunities due to discipline problems, coaching blunders, favoritism, etc.

and yet another who does not now jack shite about strategy and X's and O's and all he can do is look at wins. ok fine. do you realize miles SHOULD have 5 to 7 more wins in his record? that were the fault of on the field discipline, player management or game management? we listed them the other day.

Keep putting limitations on what we can do. Keep settling for that. Stop shooting for the stars and looking for improvement. it is what your ilk is doing.

Lol, NO, but they think they are. Amazed to see them ragging on us, UF and State for losing our Bowl games.

Interesting list and thanks for providing. Regardless of how you feel about Miles and his staff, it is important to remember that they have accomplished a great deal, and this provides some perspective.

Quick question: how did you deal with years in which the teams on this list finished out of the top 25? There had to be a number of such years.

Overall winning percentage would also be interesting to see, although I suspect this would tend to favor schools in weaker conferences.

Thanks.
