Hard to believe. Even a blind hog can find an acorn. It's time to end that crappy streak.

I think we've only won it 1x in its existence.

And UK has won it more than half the times it has ever happened ... judging by the regular season, that trend will continue.

Doesn't matter how many years it's been since we've only won one

To my knowledge, this is correct.

Winning SECT isn't goal IMO.

Dancing, Round 32, Sweet 16, Elite 8, Final 4, NCG, Championship. LSU has never accomplished the last 2. I'm all onboard for it this year.

Remember that the SECT was suspended for a couple of decades. The ironic point to be made is that LSU won it the very first time it was reinstated in 1980 and never since. And yes, they defeated UK in a thriller to win that title. Went on to the elite 8 where they lost to eventual NC, Louisville.

Interesting fact IMO, every time LSU has made the Elite Eight or Final Four, they have lost to the eventual NC. Only exception was Brady's 2006 Final Four team.

That includes 1953, 1980, 1981, 1986, 1987.

You can add 2009 to the list of LSU teams who lost to eventual champ

You can add 2014-15 as another year they have yet to win SECT. Will lose in third round of tourney IMO

Isn't it "even a blind squirrel can find a nut"?

After Dale won that title in '80 he took a philosophy of de-emphasizing the SEC tournament to concentrate on the NCAA tournament, unless he felt like they had to make some noise in the SEC tournament to get into the NCAA tourney, which about 3 times we did, most notably in 1987 when had we not made the finals of the SEC tournament, we probably would not have gotten a bid.

I never agreed with that. I think Duke and UNC always went balls out to win the ACC tournament and it rarely if ever seemed to affect them adversely in the NCAA tourney.

But we also had a few teams post Dale that were good enough to win it. 2000, 2003 and 2009 for sure. Hard to believe we haven't won it since '80.

_______

oh I remember those days, he couldn't have cared less. and it did make a big difference in the seeding based on tourney results.
