Well, looks like Paul the Scheduler did it again...What a stellar non-conference schedule:

1. Air Force/Alcorn State
2. Appalachian State
3. Dartmouth
4. Notre Dame/Michigan

I wouldn't pay $5 bucks total to watch those crappy teams. I thought we were making a step in the right direction by scheduling CSF last year, but I guess not.

there's also the factor of needing to schedule a shite ton of home games, and such teams will actually be up for that. need to pay off that new stadium brah.

Not disagreeing with you at all...but I'd rather see Tulane or ULL come in for a weekend than Dartmouth.

while that's true, tulane is turrible, and ULLL likes to think they would have a right for a home game

Snowbirds have to travel south. ULL and Tulane need not travel the first month either when teams are willing to come to them.

I've got a great idea for non-conference scheduling: BRING BACK THE WINN DIXIE CLASSIC in the Dome!

Who else did you want to schedule? They play Florida, South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Arkansas. That is probably #s 1 and 2, a top 5 and a top 10 right there.

No doubt we have a tough conference schedule...

And I'm not saying go out and schedule Texas, Rice, Florida State and Georgia Tech....

I'm saying what is our infatuation with playing Big Ten teams? We schedule teams that haven't played a game all year when they come down, and we have to watch them kick it around the field for 3 consecutive days.

What's wrong with scheduling an SMU, Southern Miss, Coastal Carolina, or Stetson?

No way Tulane or ULL would play a 3 game set at the Box, why give up paydays at home during the early season. Tulane has Alabama coming in for one weekend in the early part of March and then goes to Wichita State the next weekend (WSU came here last year).

With few notable exceptions the early part of season seems to be set aside to play northern teams. There are no northern powerhouses and usually when they arrive in Baton Rouge its the first time they've played outdoors all year.

Not a good way to prepare for a grueling SEC schedule.

I just don't see how doing all those northern teams a favor helps prepare us for SEC play.

Notre Dame and Michigan play pretty good baseball. Michigan has been in Super Regionals and Notre Dame has been to Omaha.

We shouldn't schedule SMU because they don't have a baseball team.

Sorry, didn't realize that. I was just trying to make the point that you can schedule smaller teams that will give you better competition than these northern teams that have only practiced 4 times before they come into play one of the best programs in the land.
