What is the roster limit for postseason play? 25? 28? I read that Mason Templet, Blair Frederick, and Hunter Kiel are already off to their respective summer assignments (Kiel is training for the draft and is not returning next season), so who else will be left off of the roster? Here is my best guess for who will be in the dugout for the regional, etc.:

Starters:
K. Robertson
C. Freeman
A. Duplantis
G. Deichmann
N. Coomes
J. Smith
Be. Jordan
Pap
Z. Watson

Subs:
R. Woley
J. Slaughter
J. Romero
B. Breaux
C. Reid

Pitchers:
A. Lange
J. Poche
E. Walker
C. Gilbert
T. Peterson
Z. Hess
H. Newman
N. Bush
A. Bain
R. Reynolds
M. Beck

This puts me at 25...would Bryce Adams get a slot, if the roster limit is higher??

Did you happen to read where Frederick is? He was on a Northwoods league roster the other day, but is no longer on that team.

Also, do you have any link to the Kiel news?

Not questioning any of your info, I just like to keep track of this stuff.

From The Advocate today:

"Two Tigers will soon begin playing in summer leagues as LSU begins its NCAA postseason push with a shortened roster, and everyone else now knows where he's headed at the end of the season.

Freshman first baseman Mason Templet has departed to play with the Danville Dans in the wood bat Prospect League. Freshman lefthander Blair Frederick is set to join the New Orleans Boosters of the All-American Amateur Baseball Association “at least to start the summer,” Mainieri said."

"Mainieri said junior righthander Hunter Kiel is preparing for the MLB draft instead of joining a summer league team; he indicated he will not return to LSU for his senior season.

Adams, Templet, Kiel and Frederick weren't in Hoover.

Advocate article about Kiel leaving. LINK

Okay, thanks. I was hoping Frederick would have gone to the Northwoods League. I guess he still can. It's much better experience than the NOLA Boosters team.

The article mentions Beck going to the Cape. When I find out exactly where, I'll update my thread on summer assignments. Still no word on Todd Peterson and Brennan Breaux though.

ETA: Kiel's departure puts us at 44/35 going into the draft. One of the smaller rosters we've had at this point in a few years.

I was pretty pumped about having Kiel but he pitched really poorly

I wouldn't be surprised if he improved greatly in professional ball

It would be nice to have another fast guy on the bench, a lefty to platoon at DH, and another lefty out of the pen; but other than that I believe we have the bases covered.

Breaux is a fast guy on the bench; Reid, in theory, is the lefty DH/PH candidate; and unfortunately LSU has not recruited or developed a lefty besides Bush...Woley and Romero will never be confused for their speed, but they are good bats to have as backups this postseason

The limit is 27

Templet, Kiel, Frederick won't be on the roster, probably safe to assume Adams won't either.

That puts us at 27.

Interesting. With the stuff he has, I believe it would serve him well to come back and show scouts he can control his pitches.

More than likely, Mainieri told him there isn't a spot for him next season.

Wonder why. Kid supposedly throws a 97 mph fastball. If he can learn how to control that pitch, you'd think he'd be great in a closer role.

It was always his plan to be a one-and-done. See LeMarche.

No point in wasting a valuable part of a scholly on a senior who showed absolutely nothing as a junior.

Think Tyler Jones.

Not sure he was even on scholarship money.

There's a good chance we won't have close to a full 35 by next January.

Chances that he can control it by next season which is all we care about is slim. He's had many years of wild pitching.

Year before this one he had 59 walks in 41 IP. This year 8 walks and 5 wild pitches in only 6.1 IP. He simply has no control, never has.

I think he was, couldn't have been much though.
