LSU has played a total of 27 extra innings this year. Here are the number played by the other teams in the league:

Vanderbilt 15
Alabama 14 (11 of those vs. LSU)
Kentucky 13
Ole Miss 12
South Carolina 9
Mississippi St. 8
Georgia 5
Auburn 4
Florida 4
Texas A&M 4
Arkansas 3
Missouri 2
Tennessee 0

For reference, last year LSU played a total of 13 extra innings, 16 in 2013 and 15 in 2012.

I almost asked about this in the game thread last night

I don't ever remember playing so many damn extra innings

I wonder how many of these EI games have been from us blowing a lead in the 9th. Last night, Alabama, and UK come to my mind immediately

3 losses in extras, all at home (Ole Miss, Kentucky x2).

Conversely, 4 wins in extras, all on the road (Southern, Bama x2, MSU).

I think we've only been involved in one walkoff game this year, win or lose, and that wasn't even extras.

We've had the lead in the 9th in 4 of those 6 games.

Ole Miss
Kentucky Game 3
Bama Game 1

I think they vast majority have been because of blown saves, which is concerning. Hopefully it evens out and we don't blow any saves in the postseason.

eta. last night wasn't really a blown save, but you get the picture

We so good, we purposely go into extras so we can tire out their bullpen and screw them over for the rest of the series.

Last night was a blown save, just like we blew 3 saves in one game with Alabama.

Extra innings was definitely a blessing in disguise last night. We may have burned Person, but MSU definitely burned Houston and Fitts for the series. Big advantage for us there, it ended up working out better than if we'd just held the lead in the 9th.

I only count 5….Ole Miss, Kentucky, Texas A&M, Alabama, and last night. And technically, LSU entered the 9th of the Alabama game behind….then scored 2 to take the lead….then gave up one in the bottom of the ninth.

Either way, I can't find the 6th.

That's what happens when you have a good offense and no closer

Didn't we blow a few leads in extra innings too? I think I remember having the lead 3 separate times to close out one game, and couldn't do it

How can a starting pitcher blow a save?

Remember the good old days of Matty Ott ver. 1.0 and Chris Cotton?

Late inning leads were like money in the bank.
