LSU is very thin in the front. This was a big loss but dude couldn't keep his shite straight.

We are not thin at DT, don't understand why people are saying this. 2 starters back and neither are Sr's. QT is a good backup. Gilmore and Herron are also there and have played more that Valintine and LMFAO. Add in the haul of DT's in this years class and we are in great shape.
If you want to talk about being thin at DE or MLB, I will listen.

it's not crazy that he could be on a D1 roster next yr.
its pretty far fetched. Where will he qualify. If we couldn't get him qualified on campus, I have very little faith of him doing it on his own.

We may be a touch thin,

but damn, what were you going to do with either LMFAO or Valentine? One may be in jail, the other cant get right.

That said, Lacature, Godchaux, Gilmore, Bain, Thomas and Herron should be able to hold it down. That leaves Patterson, Neal, Bower, Teheuma, Clark to fill the Ends.....we should be good there as well. That is 10 Dlinemen.

Valentine is the only real loss.
Never had him, so I wouldn't consider it a loss

It definitely helps us out with an additional DT from Louisiana.

In two years every DT on our team will be gone. The "haul" we're getting this year will be sophomores with no upperclassmen in front of them. LMFAO and Valentine were the guys who would have been there. The fact that those guys didn't pan out almost guarantees that we will suck in 2017.

Maybe not. Maybe we'll have nothing but Lacoutures and Godchauxes in the 2016 class. That's what we thought about the 2013 class. Remember? We thought that 5 star Gilmore and 5 star Herron and 4 star Bain would play immediately? Then next year (?) we thought Valentine and LMFAO would provide immediate depth?

This is what will happen with Avery, he should find a great career out there somewhere....either someone that uses a TON of wideouts such as Baylor, WVU, OSU, or another program in a Power 5 conference that does not have the depth of recruiting we do

I was thinking UCF, but he could play at Arizona or ASU since Peterson lives in Zona right? Guy would be an stand starter on either team after a redshirt and he would still have 2 years to play, or he could go to JUCO then to one of them.

We are more thin at DT than DE. DT is thin.

DT - Godchaux, LaCouture, Thomas, Gilmore, Herron
DE - Bain, Neal, Bower, Clark, Teuhema, Washington, Key, Patterson

-Bain was moved to DE months ago, played all spring and in the spring game as a DE. It even lists it on LSUsports.
-They were thinking of moving Patterson to LB because DE was and is stacked.
-Did you guys forget that after NSD Bain was moved to DE, Johnson left in April, LMFAO was kicked off late June, and Valentine just the other day?

We've lost or moved four from the stacked DT and yes it is thin. We could move Bain back if an emergency occurs, but I think he'll more likely play both positions.

Clifton Garrett seems to hurt the worst going forward. 2015 should be fine but 2016 will be key==the coaching staff needs to hit a few home runs with the linebackers.

Thanks to tGOAT recruiter, Chavis, LSU signed zero linebackers this past year.

Regardless of what's coming out of Steele's mouth, all indications seem to point in a shift towards a 3-4 front; luckily it seems that it won't be an abrupt transition overnight, but they're heading in that direction, placing an even bigger emphasis on having quality numbers at the linebacker position.
