Are we really as an athletic department committed to basketball? We arent paying top notch money for a top coach, it took us 20 years to even update the PMAC and we finally just upgraded facilities.

Lets face it, we pay top 5 money in baseball and top 8 money in football for our coaches and we see those results.

Until we commit that type of money to a basketball coach we will be who we will be.

Doesn't LSU pay Jones 1.1 million? I mean Huggins only makes 2 million and many would consider him a better coach.

How can we afford more when we don't fill up the arena and our ticket prices are so low? It all starts with support from the fan base.

Only 7 CBB coaches make more than 3 million a year, 1.1 would put Jones in the top 50 for highest paid I believe. Alabama pays Grant 1.8 million and he is tied for 25th highest paid.

The only way you are gonna fill up the arena is by winning, the only way you are going to win is by paying a proven leader.

We should be pay ing top 12 money.....end of story.

So 2.4-2.5 million for a basketball coach.... Guess they could raise football ticket prices again

Actually, if they paid 2.5 million within 2 years of winning they could WAIT FOR IT, raise basketball prices.....mindblown.

Paying a top notch coach doesnt guarantee success at a job like lsu. With that said, johnny jones has done a remarkable job his first year and a half. Let him get a full roster of his players before we bash him.

Your argument has been pretty pathetic.....and Brady has been to 1 final four fyi.

And what do yall mean paying a top notch coach doesnt guarantee success at a job like LSU?

We have rich basketball history, we just been blinded by football and baseball success and arent following the same formula.

The problem is you have to be able to attract coaches that are worth $2.5 million. An empty Pmac doesn't do that.

A guy like Jones is what we need to try to fill the arena, then you become a desirable job for bball coaches.

his roster is pretty darn good right now. good mix of experience and youth, incredible depth in the front court, martin should be destroying the competition by now. the talent and depth are there for sure. the "roster" is absolutely not the problem.

Money isn't the issue, Jones is paid plenty... I doubt a marque coach would want to even come to LSU. Wouldn't surprise me if Jones was in the top 40 coaches in terms of payment. Your
