I tweeted that at Kent Lowe... He was two steals from a quad double.

If there's any odd guard out, it's gray, not Patterson.

Patterson can absolutely play PG, especially if you have Quarterman and/or Simmons on the floor. He doesnt create much but he is very good at not turning the ball over which is much better than what you can say about Gray being a turnover machine (counting all his blocked shots because those are basically turnovers being extremely poor shot selection).

Plus, Patterson is a shooter...

I think the reason Patterson hasn't been a real big force in this trip has a lot to do with the shot clock. He is our calming PG. He is able to keep things under control and play thru the offense.

With the 24 second clock, we are basically just running a bunch of fast breaks.

That doesn't really play to what Patterson brings us. I think he will have an impact come November.

Well I guess we will see then, won't we. I love the gray turnover problems, he had an inconsistent year. He had games where he only had a few and some games where he had many, but who cares about stats. He had the ball twice as much as everyone else and is asked to push the pace. He was widely used as a scapegoat by the fan base because of the expectations placed on him. Also, Patterson is 0/6 in Aussieland from 3 and has more turnovers than assists.

I love JP, but to say he can absolutely play PG when he didn't last year except for maybe once or twice is absurd. And he's not playing well in Australia partly because he has to play PG. He never played PG in HS or so far in college, but let's just blindly say he can play PG because he's 6 feet tall.

Yep. He really needs to get that FT working because he will get fouled a lot. If I was coach I'd basically tell him to shoot 1k FTs every day till the season starts.

Forreal.

Guy doesn't need to work on other parts of his game, they're all fricking elite.

Just shoot mid range jumpers and free throws until his fingers bleed

If he was an 80% FT shooter and had a consistent mid range jumper, he'd be literally unstoppable.

Agree.

He's the guy that comes in and settles the team down and gets the offense in a well-paced rhythm. Rarely turns it over and is a decent shooter.

We are stacked with scorers with Simmons, Blakeney, TQ (now), Hornsby, etc. Its good to have that guy that looks to get the team into a groove.

The horrible things I would do to be able to teach Kent Lowe periscope, in order to give us more footage

Hard to know, but basketball are these guys jobs. They are professional. A few of the guys have been on NBA rosters at some point. And they practice together without the restrictions college players have.

And with Gray out and the duo of Bridgewater and Robinson banged up, it's difficult to complain. Hell Epps had 9 points

More like bad year than good year.

He basically was a non factor the last part of the season, his minutes decreased severely while Patterson's shot up.

I'll take last SEASON'S performance over a few non-collegiate games in Australia as a true measure of shooters and who is better with the ball.

Huh? He played a ton of PG especially when Gray's minutes vanished. Way way more than "once or twice". He played some PG role in just about any game he played in, increasingly when Gray sat the bench more and more.

It's 3 games, it means nothing. Also, this isn't his style of game when he has the ball in his hands. Like SoS said, he's the ball control PG who isn't running up and down the court and taking risky quick passes. He's very methodical and a 24 second shot clock means we're running almost every possession which isn't his game with the ball in his hands.

When is the last time that just about everyone on LSU's roster could contribute something at an SEC level? This is the first time that we've had a full squad of players that are scholarship levels since before probation. That is amazing to me.

I think you're sticking to much to the traditional 1-5 lineup.

I have a feeling we're gonna play a good bit of 3 guard lineups when Victor is allowed to play.

3 guards, Simmons and Victor.

Yep, and contrary to last year, Jones has a history of playing his bench throughout his coaching career

I would assume we play 3 guards and two forwards basically all year. And 1 of those forwards is basically a guard that's tall.

I honestly believe our lineup for opening day could easily be Q, Blakeney, Hornsby, Benny, Epps. I think that's our lineup with the highest ceiling for what Jones wants to do.

Yep. And apparently Malone has really improved his passing in the past this off season.

We're gonna have a lot of kickouts for 3s this year. Really helps clear the lane with Victor's range
