Why is the answer always to fire the coach? Maybe it will take a few games for freshmen to get comfortable

I was at the game tonight. The first half was the worst half of LSU basketball I have ever witnessed. CoC was in a zone and our guys just couldn't figure out how to break the zone. What amazed me is that Johnny never called a time out to try to get them back on track. Our players were standing around, very little movement away from the ball. Simmons did not look like NBA material at all, much less one and done. The best player on the court was Charleston's Canyon Barry (NBA great Dave Barry's son). We were out-hustled by a more physical and better-coached team. We played better in the second half, but the game was really decided in the first half. TD Arena is a tough place to play and CoC has a strong hoops tradition, but right now I don't see this LSU team making the tournament (NIT or NCAA). I hope they improve. A lot.

As bad as it gets. This was like the Trent Johnson era. I don't see JJ finishing the season unless there's vast improvement. This was the worst LSU performance in any sport, since LSU football was shellacqued by Auburn 41-7 in 1999.

No. They were quick to get onto the court and the team still went to shake hands. He's just pushing the student out of his face in the pic.
CoC security wasn't that helpful to LSU players, coaches, and staff though. Jones' LSU PD escort, the managers, and Kent Lowe did most of the work

LSU needs to stop starting and playing 3 guards and 2 F's or 1 F and 1 C.

Aaron Epps is flat out awesome. He was 4-5 FG's and 1-2 3 pointers. Not to mention 5 Rebounds and 2 blocks in half the time everyone else played (21 minutes). I guess Blakney just had an off night or rather a horrible night.

LSU should have two different Line Up's based on the types of teams they play. They should have a Power Line Up and a Shooting Line Up.

Total minutes for each player based on their position in the type of line up used, i.e. Power or Shooting:
Simmons (40 minutes) - Both Power and Shooting Line Up
Epps (35 minutes) - Both Power and Shooting Line Up
Quarterman (30 minutes) - Both Power and Shooting Line Up
Bridgewater (30 minutes) - Power Line Up.
Bridgewater (15-20 minutes) - Shooting Line Up.
Blakney (15-20 minutes) - Power Line Up
Blakney (30 minutes) - Shooting Line Up.
Patterson (15-20 minutes) Power and Shooting Line Up.
Gray (15-20 minutes) Power and Shooting Line Up.
The remaining (5 minutes) goes to whoever has the hot hand.

This should be the Power Line Up:
Simmons (Center)
Bridgewater (Power Forward) Rotate - Epps (Power Forward)
Epps (Shooting Forward) Rotate - Blakney (Shooting Forward)
Blakney (Shooting Guard) Rotate - Patterson (Shooting Guard)
Quarterman (Point Guard) Rotate - Gray (Point Guard)

This should be the 3pt. Shooting Line Up:
Simmons (Center)
Epps (Power Forward) Rotate - Bridgewater (Power Forward)
Blakney (Shooting Forward) Rotate - Epps (Shooting Forward)
Patterson (Shooting Guard) Rotate - Gray (Shooting Guard)
Quarterman (Point Guard) Rotate - Gray (Point Guard)

1) I think Epps is way underrated. I think Bridgewater gives us a dominate PF against bigger teams.
2) Moving Simmons to Center will give us even better Defense and Rebounding, plus on Offense, Simmons can dominate in the Paint, Plus he can always move out of the Paint to shoot a Jump Shot or a 3.
3) Blakney cannot have a game like he did

Trent had a stellar record before coming to LSU

Stellar is a huge stretch.

He was coach of the year in two different conferences and had won two conference championships. It is easily forgotten but he also won the SEC in his first year at LSU and was SEC coach of the year also. So I would think coach of the year in three different coferences would be considered a pretty impressive resume. But of course resume's don't win games do they.

I was sitting in the upper level behind the LSU bench so his back was to me, but based on his posture, I would say yes. The maddening thing is that if they had been coached at all the Tigers would have won the game. He never calls time outs until late in the game, when, in this case, it was too late.
