the only thing these high school coaches don't teach is fundementals and thought process
these guys today are products of AAU basketball... therein lies the problem and the reason why they are not taught! don't blame the hs coaches

Overrated! I mean doing shite in HS is one thing than doing it in college. He has to learn to play the college game. Growing pains like it was with Quarterman. He'll come around probably in the later half of the season. Players that are ready to play at any level like big Ben are rare.

JJ may be a good recruiter, but what's the point if you can't take advantage of it because of weak coaching? He should take a lesson from LSU foo--Oh, wait ...

I posted this for football but it applies equally for basketball - what do they actually do at practice? Serious question.

I am still too pissed and disappointed about the last week of LSU football to give a damn about roundball.

Literally if they each make 3 more shots each we win the game.
That has to be the worst logic in the world. While technically true, your attempt to use it as blame on the players when the head coach can't develop an offense is pathetic. It's like the football pumpers who think it is the receivers' fault for not catching every bullet pass thrown within 5 yards.

If johnny was a GOOD coach he would bench gray and blakney and play walkon white guys. He should shame them into playing defense. But then oh yea ....

It's a little different then dropping a poorly thrown ball. Antonio and Tim are missing wide open short corner threes. They've made those shots a million times in their lives, and yet they're missing them over and over again. And you can't just tell them not to shoot them. You probably won't get a better look. I'm not blaming them either. I played basketball my entire life. I understand that sometimes you just get in a shooting funk and nothing seems to fall. I'm just saying that if we start to hit those open looks, the results are going to be vastly different. It's stupid to flip out and give up on the team because they've hit a skid. They're going to start hitting those shots.

But how many loses are they going to have before that happens? At some point it's not going to matter. That's like the Cowboys saying they were going to "hold the fort down until Romo gets back". They went 0-7, not exactly holding the fort down.

I'm sorry. I may be out in left field here but I just haven't been that impressed with Simmons' overall game thus far. Is he good? Hell yes. Is he the automatic #1 pick in the NBA? I haven't seen it. When he takes charge and drives the lane and attacks the rim it's a thing of beauty. His vision on the court and basketball IQ is tremendous. His mid range jump shot needs a lot of work. We posted him up some tonight and he looked good with his back to the goal but with his skill, with what it's supposed to be, we need him hitting 6-10 foot jumpers as well. He needs to take charge and take control, showing a little fire at times as well.
