Louisiana Tech Game
Posted by SaturdayTraditions on 3/8/16 at 11:52 am10
Assuming it doesn't get rained out...
Tech has played well in their last two mid-week games, pulling out win against ULL and Arkansas. I know they throw their Friday night guy for mid-week games early in the season, and are throwing him tonight. The scouting report this morning showed he is 87-90 from the left side. I hope we get to play it and see a quality arm.
Why have we neglected playing an in-state school for 18 years? It isn't like they were consistently beating us.

Louisiana Tech and LSU have met a total of 58 times on the diamond, but Tuesday's game marks the first meeting since the 1998 season when the two teams played in Baton Rouge. The sixth-ranked Tigers have won 10 straight over the Bulldogs with LA Tech's last win coming on April 16, 1987 when Tech defeated LSU, 5-4, in 10 innings in Ruston. The last time LA Tech beat LSU in Baton Rouge dates back to the 1983 season. LSU currently leads the all-time series, 40-18, over the Bulldogs.

Which is why now that Simoneaux is gone we are playing them again? I overheard someone say that Simoneaux thought he should've gotten the job instead of Smoke and held that grudge. Thank God we didn't go that rout... I think Simoneaux is coaching a high school team now. West Monroe if I'm not mistaken.

I just looked on the LSU/StubHub ticket exchange and there are some really good seats for cheap to tonight's game, including two in the gold seats behind home plate for $6.67 each. I'd buy them but I already have good seats for tonight's game.
I guess the prospect of rain has people afraid to buy tickets even though StubHub gives a full refund if the game is canceled. (If it's postponed to a later date the tickets are still valid.)

Simoneaux was the assn't @ ull when the beaning happened & he admitted he would do it again - heard him say it on the radio
he was up for the slu job & Lsu got the job for our pitching coach - which is a story - in it's self
he got the latech job & joined that western league & more or less had demands on home & home, did not really play anyone from louisiana on a regular basis - he just had a bad attitude

Not only in baseball. Its been 10+ years for basketball and when Tech and LSU play in football in 2018 it will be 9 years since the last meeting. Not really sure exactly what all the issues are but happy to see them finally playing again. Hope to see it again on basketball court before Techs run of success completely is over so it could be at least a competitive game.

Don't let LA Tech fool you, these kids can play some baseball. If LSU isn't ready to play, The Dawgs could very well head back to Ruston with a victory.

I looked at StubHub for the Cincinatti series and the prices were ridiculous. Do they get better closer to game time?

I'm not sure. I haven't followed the prices up to game time.
This is our first mid-week home game and the threat of rain probably doesn't give a clear picture of how the prices will go as game time approaches.
Tickets are practically being given away for tonight's game. Grandstand gold seats behind home plate for $6.67 each and grandstand green seats for $8.00-$10.00 each.
I'd think that as game time approaches tonight and people see that the rain is holding off (if it does), I'd expect those cheap grandstand tickets to sell out.
ETA: After I posted the above I checked StubHub and the $6.67 gold seats behind the plate have sold.

Opening weekend is always a bit higher than the rest of the non conference games. Mid week games are usually fairly cheap all year.

It's raining pretty good just south of campus now. Radar is showing a steady train of yellow, orange and green flowing south to north from the Gulf over Baton Rouge up to southern Mississippi.
Another stronger line is showing up about halfway between Lafayette and Baton Rouge, moving slowing eastward with individual cells moving almost due north.

The way those fields handle water these days as long as it stops before game time they will get it in. Probably will depend on when that second band gets through to decide what time they will start if at all.

Why do I get the feeling this will end up being a 5 inning deal
