Sink ships, this old but true saying seems magnified x1000 in the world of social media. Why then would anyone involved in this process feel the need to leak any of his information before the deal was done ? Now we look like the dumbass who decided to fry a frozen turkey in the kitchen and act surprised that we caught the house on fire.
