I've read he is very good, and the players loved him at Arkansas. Alot of there fans wanted him to be the fill time offensive line coach.

Then that means someone on the current staff is going to coach RBs or we are looking at another staff move to make room for a RB coach. We are now at our limit for coaches.

yea, this is a strange move. I've never heard of an assistant OL coach.

and it doesn't sound good for recruiting purposes; it's like we're trading frank Wilson for this guy?

Are we sure it's not the grad asst spot to replace the OL coach that left to join Frank at UTSA?

no i'm not as i'm just going by this post and the image of his tweet. the guy may be popular as hell with his players but that doesn't mean shite when it comes to recruiting new Orleans, which is what the hell we need.

I watched the bowl game Arkansas was in and they highlighted him during the game. I don't know about recruiting but he can coach.

Good to great coaching first - by definition, this should be #1 on the coach's job description. Right?

The plan is for coach grimes to be more of the run game coordinator with mateos focusing on the oline

Damn good move for the Tigers for this upcoming season

I have heard that Sam Houston's RBs/ST coach is coming to LSU. Possibly as a graduate assistant.

run game coordinator? wtf? exactly what does a run game "coordinator" do?

why?

I guess i'm confused by this hire and with the need for a run game coordinator. maybe grimes is not hacking it at teaching technique and this is the fix? i'm still very worried about recruiting new Orleans with Wilson gone.

Run game coordinator is where he is the manager of the oline and coaches RB as well

Good for this season because lsu has great guys at RB that are very advanced.

Grimes is a top notch oline coach for coaching and recruiting

Winning will take care of recruiting in NOLA, and anywhere else for that matter

I don't think so. recruiting is a multiple year effort.

but, if coach miles plans on retiring in a couple of years I can see him being more concerned with coaching vs recruiting.

so if grimes is a top notch coach seems to me this hire cannot help LSU one bit. now we have TWO OL coaches, one top notch and one newbie, and a TE coach (yet we start a 6th OL as TE).

I still smell something fishy. i'd hate to be an OL with two bosses.
