With a few assumptions of varying likelihood:
1) Josh Dworaczyk returns healthy after a medical redshirt (50/50)
2) nobody turns pro early (35/65)
3) Jefferson takes a redshirt this year and returns (20/80)
We could potentially field this starting lineup next year:
OFFENSE
WR Rueben Randle
WR Russell Shepard
TE Mitch Joseph
LT Chris Faulk
LG Josh Dworaczyk
C P.J. Lonergan
RG Josh Williford
RT Alex Hurst
WR Odell Beckham, Jr.
RB Spencer Ware
QB Jordan Jefferson
DEFENSE
LE Lavar Edwards
LT Michael Brockers
RT Bennie Logan
RE Sam Montgomery
MLB Kevin Minter
WLB Lamin Barrow
LCB Morris Claiborne
SS Craig Loston
FS Eric Reid
RCB Tharold Simon
NB Tyrann Mathieu
And the reason that lineup is notable is because right now, with 9-11 games left in this season, every one of those guys listed has already started at least 2 games. And that's on top of returning backups like Barkevious Mingo, Chauncey Aghayere, Michael Ford, Alfred Blue, Chase Clement, Kadron Boone, etc., who also have starting experience. As much as I love how great this team is this year, it is amazing to me how young we actually are.
FUTURE LOOKS AWESOME!!!

Take out Mo Claiborne and insert La'el Collins at RG and you're good

I am more excited about the future prospects with Mett as QB--he is the future of LSU football, JJ is the past.

I will die if he starts over Mett.
Is Peterson the only SR we have at TE?

Mettenberger would transfer if JJ would be the starting Qb next season

Ahh, the ole JJ redshirt topic. My favorite.
There are a few omissions in your starting lineup for next year, but let me ask you:
Why would you want to start Jordan Jefferson over Zach Mettenberger with a year under his belt? It is the 8th wonder of the world to me that some people would advocate this.

The future looks bright. But Mo will most likely be leaving. He is getting to much hype. As the stud on defense.

Why must you rantards insist on bringing this up?
Why would you want it?
Why is your IQ below 70?
oh.. ignore the first two questions then.

Collins will start at LG and Dworaczyk would be a backup or maybe start at RG...I still think Williford takes over there though.
Mettenberger would start over Jefferson so long as he's grown up.

TE Mitch Joseph
is actually a 5th yr senior. that's right, it's the last year of Mitch-a-palooza in the P&G. the mantle of blocking TE will pass to Nic Jacobs.

It's unbelievable how freakin stacked we are. Eerily similar to Florida in 08/09 when they didn't lose a single regular season conference game.

So assuming no juniors turn Pro, we only lose K Adams, Hatcher, and B Taylor on Defense. And the rest of the guys have another year experience and weight room.
My god...
My god...

agree we will be stacked for 2012, but no way Mett's not the starter at QB next year.

And Francois on defense, but I'm not sure anyone will notice he left.

quote:I wouldn't necessarily. I guess I didn't make it very clear, but I wasn't intending to advocate that lineup. I was just pointing out that we could have available an entire lineup of guys with starting experience next year. Some of those guys (like Jefferson) may well get beat out by younger guys with less experience. But if that happens, we won't be in a situation where we have to rely on less experienced players.
