Don't think it's too soon to look forward to a probable win. Making the trip. Two friends bringing teenage sons. So who has made the trip to Stark Vegas? Anything interesting on this trip at all? I am just a little apprehensive.

By far the worst trip in the SEC. Starkville is a fricking dump. Really. It's THAT awful.

When I went, the highlight of the trip was a main street hardware store that had a cardboard sign proclaiming that they now had new tools.

go to Grumpy's. delicious food.

honestly, it wasn't that bad when i went. it was back in...2008? or 2009? the year Chad had the punt return and it rained a lot. pretty good experience. people there are very friendly, the campus is nice, stadium isn't awful. those cowbells suck, though. my car got stuck in the mud, and a ton of MSU fans came over and helped me out.

Been a few times simply because of the relatively short drive from Birmingham...it sucks! Nothing to do, no where to eat, a pathetic stadium, annoying arse cowbells, a scoreboard that actually flashes the phrase "Ring Responsibly"...save your money.

I attend every time we play in starkville and rather enjoy the trip...it is a nice, family-friendly environment and is much easier to deal with in general than LSU is on gameday...

the town is very small, but has some pretty decent resturants and a half dozen or so decent hotels...

the campus is beautifully landscaped and the stadium is pretty damn nice...except for the part that they put visitors in...prepare to be absolutely blown away by their jumbotron, as it is the biggest I have seen outside of jerry world (you will be pissed when you get back to tiger stadium)...

I also find the people to be as cordial as can be but honestly, they are not used to winning, so don't expect much banter at all...

honestly, I think it is a perfect game to bring teenagers to...enjoy the trip and let me know if you have questions...

ETA: the one negative is the damn cowbells...I just can't believe they are allowed to do that...

Thanks for the info.....what about parking? What should I plan for? And......how hard is it to get into restaurants on game day? Not bringing any tailgate gear.

Check out the cotton district, but not too late because it will get crowded. That's a good place to start.

Good restaurants:
The Veranda (upscale)
Old Venice (pizza)
Zorba's (greek)

Halfway house also has great wings and big beer selection. Not sure if they let under 21 in during dinner hours.
