Limit on teams in BCS from same conference?

Just saw local piece about LSU, stating we are on the verge of going to a BCS bowl??
Assuming BAMA, UGA, and UF win this week, wouldn't BAMA, UGA, ansd Fla. go before us?

only two of them can go to a BCS bowl. If UF wins we are gonna be left out.

This has been beat to death. There is a full BCS thread on who COULD go where and what if.
To answer your question: 2 max from any 1 conference.

Gulf, I am not speculating about what bowl specifically. I don't keep up with the tie ins and all that jazz I ask, because it seemed to be stated as likely in this piece. It's at the end.

Also, would you agree that LSU, BAMA, and UGA likely all win this week? UF, not so sure.

If 2 is the max, we are VERY UNLIKELY to get a BCS berth, no?
Posted on 11/20/12 at 7:37 pm to KnoxvilleBerryTiger
Yes 2 is the max. I expect LSU, UGA, and the Gumps to win. I actually think FSU will kill UF.
The way I read it, if that happens, loser of SECCG goes to Cap One Bowl. Then the first pick is Sugar to replace SEC champ (that goes to CG). Then are we more attractive than JFF as UF would not really be with a last wk loss.

Bottom line go Florida State to win big.

not necessarily but that's what we are thinking/hoping will happen.

2 is the max unless the BCSCG has 2 teams from the same conference then a third team from the same conference can be selected.
last year a third sec team could have been selected if one of the at large bowl berths had wanted another SEC school.

He'll, ill pull for the Seminoles just to see Muschamp lose it on the sideline. Always did like Jimbo better anyway.

At-large Eligibility
If there are fewer than 10 automatic qualifiers, then the bowls will select at-large participants to fill the remaining berths. An at-large team is any Football Bowl Subdivision team that is bowl-eligible and meets the following requirements:
A. Has won at least nine regular-season games, and
B. Is among the top 14 teams in the final BCS Standings.
No more than two teams from a conference may be selected, regardless of whether they are automatic qualifiers or at-large selections, unless two non-champions from the same conference are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the final BCS Standings.
If fewer than 10 teams are eligible for selection, then the Bowls can select as an at-large team any Football Bowl Subdivision team that is bowl-eligible, has won at least nine regular-season games and is among the top 18 teams in the final BCS Standings subject to the two-team limit noted above and also subject to the following:
1) if any conference has two or more teams in the top 14, then two of those teams must be selected and
(2) from the teams ranked 15-18, a bowl can select only a team from a conference that has fewer than two teams in the top 14.
If expansion of the pool to 18 teams does not result in 10 teams eligible for selection, then the pool shall be expanded by blocks of 4 teams until 10 eligible teams are available subject to the two-team limit noted above and also subject to the following: (1) if any conference has two or more teams in the top 14, then two of those teams must be selected and (2) from the teams ranked 15 or lower, a bowl can select only a team from a conference that has fewer than two teams in the top 14.
Relative to the two preceding paragraphs, all teams ranked in the top 14, other than those from conferences which have already had two teams selected, must be included in the bowl selections.

We could technically go even if UF wins (but a lot would have to happen), we'd just need USC to kill ND (to drop them below Florida), Oregon State to beat Oregon (to keep the voters from voting them up above Florida and from potentially having the Pac 12 Championship game to jump UF), Florida to beat FSU (doubtful the way UF has played of late) and Bama to win the SEC, that could allow for a Bama vs Florida National Title Game, and allow Sugar to pick LSU.
If Georgia wins, its doubtful that the voters will allow another rematch game for the title (Bama v Florida hasn't happened yet this year).

Not true.

The only way another SEC team could have been chosen to play in a BCS bowl last year would have been if that school was the SEC Champion. LSU won the SEC and, therefore, LSU and Alabama filled the maximum allowable teams in the BCS from the SEC last year and a 3rd team could not have been selected.

The only way a 3rd SEC team can be picked to picked to play a BCS bowl game after two other SEC schools are already ranked #1 and #2 and playing for the BCS Championship is if neither #1 or #2 were the SEC conference champions and that 3rd team did win the SEC championship game.
If the Alabama vs. Georgia winner AND Florida are in BCS games, no other SEC team (including LSU) will be in a BCS bowl game.

Just a lot of ifs and buts right now, but here are several scenarios:
NC Game: A real long shot
Sugar Bowl vs. Oklahoma
Sugar Bowl vs. Clemson
Cotton Bowl vs. Texas
Cotton Bowl vs. Oklahoma
Capital One Bowl vs. Michigan
Chick-Fil-A Bowl vs. Clemson
Chick-Fil-A Bowl vs. NC State
Outback Bowl vs. Wisconsin
Outback Bowl vs. Northwestern
Tigers must win Friday, or the Sugar is out.

OK. But I wasn't really asking about scenarios. Just correcting guys that think the SEC can put 3 teams into the BCS when the SEC Champion is in the BCS Championship Game.

Two max.
See Arkansas last year. #8 in the BCS and went to the Cotton because LSU & Bama were in front of them....

They were quite irritating to deal with in person back in 2003 after LSU lost to them in the Cotton.
