Anyone else observe the usage of the LF7?

10 carries on the first drive is silly. If 25-35 is the max, wouldn't you want the big back in late during a game that is a one score difference?
I get he's always a hr ball, but more so later than earlier. The idea that LF7 has 15 carries and LSU is up 3-0 seems to me like a total waste of resources.

Short point, save the beast for later in the game

I agree. I think Guice could have run just as well against WKU. I'd like to have limited his carries last week. I hope the bye week allows him to get his legs under him for the stretch run.

yea.... i kinda feel the same.

I havent really checked the distribution of his carries, but I will say that it is incredibly frustrating when we get a first and goal or get in the redzone, and he comes out. There has been more than 1 drive that has stalled immediately after that.

So you think we should save our best player for late in the game against Western Kentucky? Dude, I'm trying to rationalize something, just anything, and still can't come up with anything.

I don't think you necessarily "saves" him for later, because he's the one that makes them tired, and he is a threat even when he doesn't get the ball. But I agree that in this game particularly, I would have liked to see Guice more early on. If only to keep LF's totals down against a weaker team.

If you disagree with what I said, explain why.
I don't see the other side of the argument.

If the other team puts 8 in the box when LSU is running a 4 wide you have to throw the ball. If the game plan is to wear them down with the run early then switch the backs. Seriously no back should have 15!touches in the first quarter.

Usually the first 10-15 plays are already game planned regardless of situation. Why go into the game scared that you can't do it. They are confident in their players and they want to dictate, not be dictated.

Beantown,

I've talked to many players that have told me down, distance, place on field, momentum, and coaches mood determines next play.

Grtiger,

One guy running the ball doesn't make 11 men tired. The online and the run game does that collectively. The abuse LF7 does isn't really felt across a whole unit as much as the one or two guys he hits.

Again, I'd love to see LF7 with less then 12 carries at 1/2 time and abuse a worn down defense late in the game in a close game.

Now, I'll concede that if nothing else is working you may need your best player just to keep you in the game. Still it's not the script I write if I expect to win the game

I see we don't understand flow, philosophy or game conditions.

If lf7 was not getting the carries early in the game you would complain that our best player is on the bench when the game has not been decided. It appears to me that some of you...just look for crap to bitch about.
