Those interested in attempting to bring back Neck, etc should email the following to Roy King and the Athletic Department.
And modify "alum/student/season ticket holder/LSU fan" to whatever appropriately fits you.

athletics@lsu.edu
rking3@lsu.edu

quote:

Joe Alleva & Roy King,
We know you listen to the input from LSU fans and we appreciate it. As an alum/student/season ticket holder/LSU fan I request you return to the traditions enjoyed in Tiger Stadium by allowing the Golden Band from Tigerland to play "Tiger Rag," "Oweo," and "Neck." These songs are fan and team favorites.
It doesn't get any bigger than LSU-Alabama 7pm kickoff in Tiger Stadium. You have an opportunity to ignite the crowd. Bring back the magic. Make us stand right up and roar. Geaux Tigers.

Everyone does love those songs, but they won't come back because our admin is hyper sensitive to anything that may offend anyone ever.

Calling the other team and their fans assholes in a light-hearted manor should not get Tiger Rag silenced.

Won't happen. Administration has repetitively asked the student section to stop with the profanity. They chose not to listen. If they really enjoyed the songs they would do it without the profanity.
Is what it is.

Exactly. It is easy. Cut the BS, and the songs will return.

Yep. I have the worst mouth of anyone I know. I say frick all day and I work in a corporate setting. However, I also know there are times when I HAVE to behave like I am not a cretin. Even after drinking all day I can contain myself(for the most part) around children and others in Tiger Stadium.

Neither is "Oweo" for that matter. It was a 2000's thing.

Never seen a fanbase so concerned with the band before the biggest game of their season. Half the posts here are about "Neck" this week.

Wouldn't the simple solution be having Eric Reid or some team leader do an announcement on the video board at the beginning of the game? He could say how much the band fires them up and how they could support the team by refraining from the use of profanity during the songs.

That puts the decision squarely on the students. Do you want be a jackass and self-indulge or do you want to support your team?

Because all the cheers queue off the band and we like the band.

Just because things are new doesn't make them not a tradition. If people like them and it was done for a period of time, I think its a tradition.
