Forever in our hearts you'll bleed,
The purple and the gold
With every tiger victory,
Your Story will be retold,
From the tailgates to the touchdowns,
Your name will live on still,
And in each Saturday we'll play,
Your memory lives on still,
And every time that in Death Valley Tigers chance to score,
The echoes of Mikes' fury will be heard forevermore.
The more pics the better. He touched many of us, and his memory will live on through us and our children.
THREE CHEERS FOR MIKE VI!!!

I have a picture somewhere of my daughter (around 2-3 years old at the time) with her hands against the glass of his habitat. Mike came walking from around the bushes on the left side and stared right at her for a few moments. Luckily I was able to get a good shot of it.
God bless Mike and LSU.

Mike has always been a constant in my life. As a kid, I had trouble with dyslexia. When I would get down about school, my mom would take me to visit Mike. When Mike 5 died, I was in college. I cried like a baby.
Then Mike 6 came and everything was right with the world again. My daughter has enjoyed going see him. I was reading the story on here about him being moved to hospice and my daughter saw the pictures. She can't wait to go see him this weekend. She is 2 so I will not have to have the talk with her. Maybe just say Mike went to heaven. I don't know.
Sorry for rambling. This has been tearing at me for a while.

From a few years ago - Mike always made sure to go say "hi" to her when she'd visit. Took her to see him Thursday before school after it was announced he didn't have much time left - didn't know that'd be goodbye. Very sad.

My most fond memory of Mike is that I think he looked at me once.

That's a really awesome picture. You should have it blown up and framed to give to your daughter.

It's the one where his paw is on the glass with the little girl.

Not a personal memory of mine, but I remember reading an article that interviewed some of the student handlers and caretakers. One guy talked about his morning routine with mike. He would walk in, Mike would get up, run over to the front of the cage, let out a few chuffs as a kind of greeting, and then walk away and let out a huge, foul smelling dump, kind of a good morning present.

I keep wondering about that guy who was about to kill himself but God told him to go see the tiger and he kept going ever since. Is he gonna be ok?

When he was a cub I went down there with my gf at the time, we were walking past his lake looking for him, turns out he was hiding right up against the wall in that corner spot (hard to describe but if you look at the wall by the lake you'll see what I'm talking about)
Anyway Mike is hiding back there and as my gf walks by he hops out, paws up like he's going to pounce. Freaked my gf the frick out, it was hilarious.

This is actually a Mike V story but one I remember well...I went by his cage one night while I was a student--he was in the old cage with the small viewing window. When I looked inside he was sleeping with his back turned to the window so lightly tapped on the glass. Very coolly and calmly he sat up and turned around, staring right at me through the window, 3 feet away. It was awesome. Then after a few seconds he said "you happy now? You woke me up you a-hole." Then he turned around and went back to sleep.

One of his shits was literally the nastiest thing I ever smelled.

I remember being in college when we got the new Mike. I would take the campus bus to school every morning, and it would pass right by his cage. He was always so lively and would be jumping around in the water or playing with the big ball. It was really cool to watch and was the highlight of my mornings.

I lost my mom last year but she worked for years at LSU. She was retired by the time Mike VI came to LSU but she would still be on the campus a couple time a day.
I went with her to LSU for a ceremony in 09. She said let's go see mike. I was like sure I love going to see Mike. I didn't know but she had been going to see him often....and anyone who knows that Tiger knows what that meant.
She showed her face to him and he came a running, jumping in his water feature and going right up the glass like he wanted to hug her.
Scared the living shite out of me, she and him had a "thing" so she had gotten use to it.
