Let's assume everyone eligible to leave on defense will and that Miles won't make a change at OC/his control over the offense, what do we have?

I'm concerned a lot with the front four. We're losing 4 lineman and you can say we just reload there but you're going to replace three great players easily. Freak has played very well in limited snaps but he doesn't seem to have the work ethic to be an every down DT. Ego will likely be the other DT and he hasn't shown anything at LSU yet. Behind him, no experience. DE, we have zero experience except Rasco and he hasn't shown much of anything yet either. Not looking good there.

LBs should be ok if we can find someone to replace MLB. I think we'll see a drop there because Minter commanded the middle and I don't think we'll see someone with an immediate impact like that. We saw a lot of potential in the freshman LBs who play, especially Deon Jones/Kwon Alexander. I don't think either could play MLB, so maybe Barrow slides over with Tahj/Kwon/Deon for Sam/Will.

Secondary is iffy. Loston can't stay healthy for the life of him and he's mediocre in coverage. Only other S with experience is Martin and he has shown potential but I'm not sure he's physical enough to play the position to come up for run support. We should be good at CB with both Jalens starting and I expect a freshman to come in and get heavy PT. White appears to be a dominant HS CB who will probably immediately get PT here. Micah Eugene might even slide to S depending on the Martin and the other S progression.

I'm not even really going to touch offense. They've shown very little to be optimistic about and regressed as the season passed. The only bright light is an Oline that SHOULD be better in theory with Faulk but we're also breaking a new C in which can be a HUGE difference for chemistry. Olines always regress under Stud though. Hill is a stud but Miles seems to forget he's the best RB on the team for some odd reason.

We have a brutal schedule next year and I think it's realistic to say our defense will not be as good either. Mostly from the front four. I see LSU losing at least 3 games maybe 4 if the offense isn't vastly improved. Thoughts?

8-4

Too much talent on D bolting and Les Miles will still be the HC

Bama, A&M and UGANDA are losses at this point.

10-2 at best, 9-3 more likely, 8-4 is very possible

lol, based on what? the coaches retardly giving Downs all those snaps. and yeah he had a sack last night, great. check Freak's stats vs. his.

I like the secondary and the LBs even with guys turning pro.

I wish my fist could touch Stud upside his head about 10 times.

Yup. Way too many question marks on the team. That's not even considering who we lose to attrition which will surely happen.

A positive is it seems LSU has been consistently getting recruiting classes where players can impact immediately in certain positions. This recruiting class we have now looks great but they will still be young players. I could see several dlineman coming in and getting immediate PT. I'm more concerned about DE right now because we have no idea what we have there. I haven't been impressed with Rasco either and he'll be going into next year as a Junior. Regardless, one injury on dline and we're putting inexperience in everywhere. Freak is the only lineman I can say for sure he will likely be an impact player but we need those ends to be consistent. A dominant DT is more important than dominant DEs, IMO.

Bama, Florida, A&M, UGA, 1 game Les always drops to an inferior team. 8-4 might be wishful thinking. Oh and don't sleep on TCU and Kent State as well as Auburn with Malzahn.

Sometimes when I see him in it looks like he takes plays off. That might be why Downs played a lot of his snaps. Maybe I'm just looking into that too much, who knows. His stats for a sophomore are pretty gaudy but his partner in crime next year hasn't done shite. Ego has been in a lot of snaps too and I don't think I've heard his name called all year. I had high hopes for him too. Hopefully he progresses this offseason because it's his time now. I don't have a clue what we have in Mickey Johnson and Quentin Thomas. I'm holding out hope LSU thinks they have some special guys at DT because they haven't had much urgency recruiting DTs past few years. They'll likely have an academic casualty this year and they don't seem to be looking to replace him...

Nothing different except winning on talent and luck has just about worn out. 8-4 and who knows what happens in bowl game.

If all the juniors declare that could, we are totally fricked. This would be the defense...

DE: JR. Rasco, JR. Maclin
DT: JR. Freak, SO. Thomas
DT: JR. Ferguson, SO. M Johnson
DE: SO. Hunter, JR. Allen
OLB: SR. Barrow, SR. Muncie
MLB; SO. Feist, JR. Welter
OLB: SR. Jones, SO. Alexander
CB: SO. Mills, SO. Collins
S: JR. Martin, SO. Sandolph
S: SO. Thompson, SO. Eugene
CB: FR. White, rFR. Thomas/Raymond

Bah, just a big dropoff from this year's D. We cant afford to lose Logan, Minter, Simon and Loston

Yea...Hunter starting would be a surprise. I think Allen would be starting over him. Did Hunter leap that far up the depth chart? I think Allen got an injury this year, didn't he? I wonder what Hunter can do. He looks physically ready to play in the SEC now. Way too many questions on defense for sure. It's hard to imagine all those pieces will fall into place...

And if we get any injuries, we're really fricked. Depth is thin because we have so much inexperience.

Allen has never looked to take a starting job really, even being injured this year being a setback. Never has lived up to his recruiting billing. Hunter is physically ready to go and a year of coaching is what he needed to make strides. Keep in mind Montgomery and Mingo both needed a year themselves. I think Hunter is the next beast at DE.

Bama probably will go to another NC. As usual, they have it easy. Only TAMU/LSU to worry about while we have to play two premiere powerhouses in the East.

Has he received any praise from the coaching staff? I don't remember reading anything on him. Just that he's physically ready. I know his HS coach said he was better than Von Miller at that point in their career.

8-4 or 7-5

We could have been 6-6 this year very easily, so if our luck continues we could do 9-3, but we would have to beat A&M.

I see at least 3 losses among Bama, UGA, Fl and A&M. We probably lose another one among the rest.

8-4

I don't think Georgia will be that great depending on who leaves early for them. If Murray leaves, well, they're in trouble.
