Lets cut back to 10 or 11 meaningful regular season games.

Increase the playoff to 10 teams. The first six get byes, then you have an eight team playoff. And then watch that thing explode.

Expand to 6 with 2 teams getting byes in the first round.

TV contracts($$$$$$$$$$$$$) will not allow for regular season games to be cut and P5 universities won't give up 1-2 home games that pay for their other sports programs. More isn't always better. 4 team playoff is perfect....rewards a GREAT regular season...not a good or very good regular season.
