he gets paid the "big bucks" for being the most successful coach in LSU's history

You keep saying that as if that is justification for him keeping a job???

1. LSU is in a state that is loaded with talent.
2. LSU has no competition from any other instate school for recruits
3. LSU has always sent players to the league.
4. LSU has one multiple titles prior to Les Miles

How couldn't any competent coach not be successful with this outfit?

Has a coach "one" multiple while here?

The same way Muschamp sucked a giant dick at UF. Consistent winning isn't easy. How was Shula such a frick up at Alabama? There are a plethora of examples of coaches sucking in resource rich programs. What makes you think LSU is exempt from that possibility?

So why are you making things up about low expectations?

Don't tell me what I'm making up.

And I didn't say this season hasn't met expectations. This was yet another season where we didn't have championship expectations, and we are living up to that.

If you would have been told at the beginning of this season we'd be 7-1 (should be 8, but yay lightning) after only losing to Bama, everyone would have taken that. Most of the predictions here had us with at least 3 losses by this point.

how many should we have expected last year? The year before? Sooner or later you have to acknowledge that if you're expecting/averaging 3 losses a year, you can't call yourself elite.

We had a bad game while one of the best teams had their best.

Oh it was just a bad game, huh? Not indicative of larger problems? Well we are all entitled to our opinions.

LSU has it better than bama.
1. we don't have to fight for in state talent with the equivalent of Auburn.
2. we have way more talent than the state of Alabama

I said this before we will become UGA west if Miles doesn't adapt.

We should be given we are dealt a much better hand than a vast majority of most universities.

Well, when you can't back up your claim of someone having low expectations, I'm going to call you out on that.

quote:

how many should we have expected last year?

Last year was a disappointment for sure, but a few losses were definitely expected after losing all the offensive talent from 2013. Expecting perfection from that year is just asinine.

quote:

The year before?

We only lost two games during the regular season. We also had a very disappointing defense. But I'm sure that's only Miles's fault since it was bad.

quote:

I don't think we expect to have 3 losses every year, so I guess we're still good there.

quote:

Oh it was just a bad game, huh?

Yes.

quote:

Our offensive line played their worst game, while Bama's defensive front played their best. No game plan would have worked that night. We're still sitting at 7-1 and one with a possibility to still win a championship. If this is a large problem, I'm OK with it.

You're delusional. Based off your logic, Saban should be fired because he loses the occasional game.

If Saban lost to LSU 5 years running his seat would be warm. I bet when we beat aTm for the 5th straight time this year Sumlin seat will get even hotter than it already is.

How can you say this?!?!? When something isn't working, coaches are supposed to adjust, in real time, and modify the game plan to at least TRY to find something that works. EVERY team has a weakness and coaches get paid to find it and exploit it.

Merely doing the same thing and then saying "oh well, the other team is good and nothing would've worked anyway" is about the most pathetic excuse I can imagine.

Alabama is every bit as resource loaded as LSU when it comes to getting talent, and frankly more so. You're completely ignorant to think otherwise. And their recruiting classes back me up.

Considering A&M has yet to have a better SEC record than us, that's a pretty useless comparison.

Easily, like this. No game plan works when the offensive line is getting buttfricked.

quote:

What weakness would you liked to have attacked that could have been executed with 4 D linemen in our backfield just about every play?

well you've got to try something because what we were doing wasn't working.

Screen passes can be very effective against a big pass rush. Quick passes (slants, WR screens, TE, etc.) are effective since the QB can get the ball out quickly before the pass rush gets to him. Spread out the defense with different formations. Anything to get to the edge. Jet sweeps. Designed roll outs. And do it all out of multiple formations that don't tip our hand. Break tendancies. Unpredictability is our friend.

All of that get's blown up when the LOS gets pushed back 2 yards. Their front 4, not even the 7, dominated the frick out of us. There really isn't much you can do when your line gets outclassed like that. That's not making excuses, it's acknowledging that on that night, their defense was a truly dominant (notice no "e" in there Hornet) force. They hadn't played a game like that all year, much like our O line hasn't looked that ineffective until that night. Sometimes the other team just has a better night than you. Unfortunately for us, it was against the Gumps.

Don't know how you can say that. If we go to a quick-strike offense, we negate the D-line's ability to get to Harris. If that's effective, then the defense has to change to counteract what we're doing, which then opens up our ability to run.

It ain't rocket science.

Would this have been enough to win the game? Maybe not. But, damn, we have to try something because what we were doing wasn't working.
