Haven't seen this mentioned but has nobody talked about the contradicting statements made by both Miles and Harris regarding the Miss st game?

Harris says he checked out of pass plays to a run when a blitz was picked up pre-snap. Miles says "the plays that were called were the plays that were run". "Harris has no authority to change the play at the line". Didn't see this mentioned just thought it was odd.

Keep the defenses guessing.

Seriously... They probably call passes, and then when Harris looks to the sideline, he gets the "run what we called signal", or "check down to the run signal."

Yeah, probably all "Check with me" stuff. But it still takes Harris recognizing a compromising defensive situation to check with Miles.

Any link for the Les quotes? I hadn't read that.

As long as the football goes forward, I could care less if its the play called originally or a check down from whomever.

They come out with a play and look to the sideline for pre snap read. Change the play or go with the play based on what they see upstairs

I didn't hear or read that. What I heard/read was exactly the opposite, essentially that the plays that were called were NOT the plays that were run.

Miles addressed this on the radio show last night.

this

Harris is saying he checked into a run...but what he's really saying is that the sideline checked into a run.

In my opinion, Harris told the "truth" and Les was protecting his quarterback.

No. Just no.

You didn't watch the game or weren't paying attention.

Brandon Harris CLEARLY is looking to the sideline for the checks pre-snap. To think that he's unilaterally deciding to check down to a run based on something he sees is not paying attention.

What Miles is saying is the truth. The calls are coming from the sideline. What Harris is saying is the truth. Many of the playcalls from the booth were passes that were checked into runs.

And, a bunch of people who misinterpreted it as if Harris is calling audibles based on his read of the defensive scheme he's seeing pre-snap with no input from the coaches.

And, BTW, this all changes nothing. If every time we see a blitz coming we check into a run, that's basically the same thing as being ultra conservative and calling a run from the booth 77% of the time.

yea, except that we punted on 8 of our last 9 possessions. Not enough ball going forward.

They played conservative and that's all there is to it. Harris got the calls from Cam/Miles to check out of the extra few pass plays that were originally called in the second half, which is why we looked like New Mexico's offense.

Exactly, neither one of them is lying, but what they are saying is incomplete.

You could see them going "check with me" often during the game.
